Anyone know anything about baseball.

I was watching "for Love of the Game" today. It was a good movie. I always like watching Kevin Costner. Anyways it is about a 40 year old pitcher who pitched a no hitter. I was interested in how many times this has happened and all that so I went to MLB No-Hitters - MLB - ESPN and there is a list. But there are some that say PERFECT GAME and some that say COMBINED and some say nothing. I know combined must me 2 or more pitchers but what is the difference in a perfect game and a no hitter?

Perfect game = no batters reach a base at all (no walks, no errors, no hits)

but isnt that what a no hitter is? no one gets a hit and reaches a base. And on the link of my post it shows a perfect game on 5/29/10 and that game has a error. What is a error? if no one hits the ball then how can there be a error? I never thought there was so much to baseball. Guess I need to watch it. I am still confused about no hitter and perfect game.

Yep. no hits, no walks, no hit batters (as in striking the batter w/ a pitch), and no errors (which is not entirely up to the pitcher) is a perfect game.

On the other hand, someone can still get to base without getting a hit: thus a 'no hitter'. They do this through walks or errors.

In a no-hitter, no one (on the losing team) gets a hit (single, double, triple, or home run). A batter can still reach a base on a walk (on balls or intentional), an error, hit by pitch, interference, or a number of other ways.
In theory, a pitcher can have a no-hitter and still lose the game (it has happened).

In a perfect game, no one on the losing team makes it to first base or beyond.

In the 5/29 game the error was on the losing team, not the winning team.
