polish tantal and century...again

century arms has decided that my tantal in fact has key holing issues, cant fix or replace the firearm, and now wants to issue a credit for use at j+g that would be significantly less than what I paid for the rifle. am I in the wrong to think that they should replace the rifle out right? wasr-10, etc. again the rifle is still under warranty and no solution can be found? so im to suffer. this cant be right...

Nope. They should fix it or give you credit for purchase price. What does the retailer say?

Retailer says they can only give credit for the amount that they paid for the gun. Significantly less than purchase price. I can't wrap my head around this concept. It makes a warranty seem useless.

Century did pretty well for me. I hate to hear they are shorting you. maybe you can send them a copy of the receipt and work something out.

Customer service is the deal breaker for a lot of companies keep after them and I'm sure they'll cave in

Century sold a rifle that would have trouble hitting the broad side of a small barn. What's more is the danger in a firearm that you dont know where the bullet will hit essentially. They'll make it right. I'll try and reach a supervisor or manager.

Wow that's horrific. Imagine if large retailers used this concept.

You buy plasma screen tv at walmart, paying $2,000. TV doesn't work and you go to return the tv and get credit. They tell you they can't refund the money that you paid but only refund what they paid. They refund you the wholesale price IN STORE CREDIT a total of $1,500. END RESULT NET LOSS $500 and REALLY PISSED CUSTOMER.

Have you gone all the way up the chain of management for both Century and the retailer? Have you filed a complaint with the BBB for both?

I'd suggest both of those as the next steps of action if you haven't already. In the mean time, I'd strongly suggest to my friends that they should avoid buying anything imported by Century and shopping at that local store since they won't stand behind the products they sell.

Likewise, it would be prudent to write a letter expressing your displeasure with their companies for their poor handling of this. Lay out some remedies that would make you happy (i'd put the real burden on Century), and then leave a IF NOT closing paragraph. "I sincerely hope you can help remedy this issue as I believe your company is better than this. If, however, you cannot bring a satisfactory resolution to this I will encourage my friends and families to avoid Century Arms."

If this store only offered you store credit for the wholesale price of the rifle this store needs to be named.

They'll make profit off you either way... it's just if they offer you a refund of the wholesale price they'll make greater profit. Does the store have a website? If it does they probably spell out the return/exchange procedures and terms. If so and it conflicts with what they are telling you call them out on it.

All that being said, it could be a lot worse. You could've bought a $2,500 gun and they were pulling this crap on you.

seams like J&G should at least kick in the difference. This makes them at least as bad as Century (and that's pretty bad). I'll remember this next time I see their "great deals" advertised on the web. I've come real close to pulling the trigger a couple of times with them. If they think this a a fair result, they can kiss my money good-bye for good.

Stories like this and the price/scarcity of a quality AK are why I don't have an AK.

Man I've never heard of such BS! I don't see how it's legal to only refund you the wholesale price unless that it's written in there return policy. I've never heard of a wholesale refund policy, stores would make a killing off people if this was the norm. It would be a win/win for the store everytime.

I'd stay on the phone/email w/everyone I could until they resolved my issues.
Good luck man, keep us posted.

If it's JG Sales then...
Quote:
RETURNS INFORMATION
1. GENERAL RETURNS INFORMATION:
Every item we sell comes with a 30 day inspection period. If you are not satisfied with your order when it arrives, or it is not what you expected, or you do not like it for some reason, we'll refund your money or exchange the item within 30 days of receipt, if it is still in the same condition as when we shipped it. (Does not apply to items sold AS-IS).
2. RETURNS OF NON-DEFECTIVE ITEMS
All returned non-defective items must be returned in original packaging and in the same condition in which it was shipped, merchandise that's been fired, modified or abused, or is returned incomplete is not accepted for refund or exchange. If you wish to send an item back you must call 928-445-9650 to get a return authorization number first, to be sure your returned package is received and processed properly. Do not email for a return authorization number, if you do you will get a reply asking you to call. No returns are accepted COD. Shipping costs are not refundable, customer responsible for paying shipping both ways, restocking fee may apply.
3. RETURNS OF DEFECTIVE ITEMS
New products are guaranteed to be free of defects. Surplus items and used items are guaranteed to be as advertised. Although we visually check each item for any apparent defects before it's shipped, we do ask that you immediately check your merchandise once it arrives. If the items appear defective or do not function, please call us at 928-445-9650. Some products we sell are covered by the manufacturer's warranty that requires items to be sent directly to the manufacturer for replacement or repair, not to J&G Sales. If we made a mistake on your order, for example, sent the wrong item, we can issue a return services label so you do not have to pay return freight charges.
4. DAMAGED SHIPMENTS
If an item is damaged during shipment keep all materials (boxes, packing lists, labels and merchandise included in the shipment.) this will help the claims process. Open and inspect all your items immediately upon receiving them. If the package was damaged in shipment, please call us at 928-445-9650
5. A NOTE ON SURPLUS FIREARMS & AMMO
Remember, NRA grading standards do not really apply to military surplus guns. We make every effort to accurately describe the condition of our military surplus items online and when you call. See our gun grading guide here. If you have more detailed questions about the condition of an item, then please call at 928-445-9650 8am-5:30pm Monday thru Friday, or 9am to 3pm Saturday and we'll be happy to help. Note: if you don't order a handpick, don't assume you'll receive a nicer than average firearm … you'll just get whatever's next on the shelf.
If you have trouble with ammo, such as not feeding, not firing, or extracting, et cetera, check your gun, since many times a customer will return ammo that they report does not work, and it works perfectly when tested by us.
6. We always hope you are satisfied with your order. To make sure you get everything you expect from J&G Sales, we back your purchase with our 30 day inspection period. Customers who call after 30 days normally cannot return any items, after 30 days all sales are final. If you wait 30 days or more before you look at your order, and then find something wrong, unfortunately we can no longer accept returns after such an extended period of time.
Price Disclaimer: ALL PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE, please call to confirm current pricing and availability. We are not responsible for typographical errors or any wacky digital weirdness which may occur. Not all items are as pictured.
WARNING: ALL FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION BUYERS SHOULD RECEIVE PROPER INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING IN THE PROPER USE OF THESE PRODUCTS BEFORE USING THEM.
