Agreed, when you can get a gun for under $100, retaining value probably not the biggest issue.

unless you decipher the roll marks and find it to be unique in some way. rarely happens to the point of almost never, but it *could* happen.

I would say that some of the well done modifications to mosins likely increase value. Point is these guns are not being purchased with how much it is worth in mind.
Do what you want with it...Enjoy your rifle!
