That looks effective, the top of my receiver is nicely scratched from the original rail.. I'll consider this on my next ruger, or if/when I get bored and decide to change my scope

Its been working great. I've used this setup on all of my Rugers for the past 15+ years. Once its zeroed in I've never touched the scope, mounts so I know they'll keep the zero.

If you don't mind me asking, What scopes are you running on your Rugers?

I don't mind at all. Happy to help if I can.
I've been using the same Simmons scope for as long as I had the rifle now.
Its not too much money either, I use a 3-9x40 on one of them:
Simmons 8-Point 3-9x40 Riflescope (Matte Black) 510513 B&H Photo
Very clear, reticals are sharp keeps its zero.
You can also opt a little more cash for a wider field of view and more magnification for this scope, the objective lens is a little wider but the mount will allow for this:
Simmons Signature .44 MAG Riflescope 441044 B&H Photo Video
Oh and the mounts themselves....this is the modern version of the mounts I have:

Hope this helps!

Well, I 'had' a ruger 10/22...until my dad called me one day and said that he was going to build a new .22cal squirrel gun....lol.
He ended up parting out my old 10/22 and using the action/trigger. Polished the trigger a little and worked with the uptake. He used a Hogue over-mold stock, damit they are amazing for the $, I love the way it feels on the bench and in the field.
Also he worked on the Hogue Over-mold stock to accommodate a floated carbon-fiber 10/22 bull-barrel. After a little trial and error with multiple types of ammo, we have nailed down 1/2-3/4MOA @ 100yrds with this built gun. On bags, 5rnd cold group.
I know 'posted' groups are one thing....hunting is another. But I have to say, I have stamped out FAR too many squirrels w/ this gun with head shots than I dare count. And on average, you are looking at a ~2" diameter target when hunting squirrels, when shooting for the head. With this gun, only your shooting ability determines the kill.
