Custom 10/22 or M&P 15-22
I'm looking into getting a plinker for me and the girlfriend to have fun with and maybe varmint hunt every once in a while in the country. Most M&Ps are in the 450-500 range and I can get a 10/22 for @ 200. I really like the Promag Archangel kit and it's only about 150. Would the better gun in the long range be to get the 10/22 and the kit, which comes w/ 2 25 rd mags. I know the 10/22 has been around for years so it's proven and the kit plus gun would be roughly 50-100 cheaper than the M&P.

I was originally gonna get the m&p for my son. But didn't want to spend $400+ with the risk of him not liking shooting. So i grabbed a 10/22. Sooooo glad i went that route. We both love it. Plus anytime you want you can change the look for under $100. Parts a limitless. We currently have a 4x15 scope and a blackhawk Axiom stock on it. Next is barrel upgrade . Mag release and charging handle. Maybe a trigger group.

Another vote for the 10/22. In my opinion it's by far the best .22 rifle out there and has an unlimited amount of accessories and modifications. You cannot go wrong with it.

10/22 FTW! Be careful when ordering that Acrchangel kit, they've (promag) moved along to a different kit and are no longer making it. Find one on Amazon, that's in stock somewhere, that's what I had to do

I love my 10/22. I cant speak to the M&P as I have never held one but a 10/22 is very popular for a reason.

I'd go with the 10/22 and customize it yourself, I like mine a lot, it's a great gun for 200 bucks!

You might look at the Sig 522. Granted everybody is out of stock right now but they have gotten some super reviews. And they offer a number of versions.

i have had my 15-22 for about a year and just got my custom 10/22 this week. I think both have some good to them a lot like the ar looks so the 15-22 is a lot of fun for them. If you want to do more tactical right out of the box the 15-22 is the way. The 10/22 has endless possibilities mine is set up to be a bench rest target gun. I think the 10/22 might be best since you can really make it into whatever you want if your not sure the style you would like. If later on you want the ar style you can change over the 10/22 for the look and feel.

I've got a 10/22 with a 3-9 scope. Really a nice shooter, accurate and will take any ammo I feed it. I stopped in a cabelas store just intending to look around and ended up buying the 10/22 with the scope already mounted, $269.00.

Get a 10/22, and when you're tired of shooting it, get another 10/22, and the gatling gun kit!
