Looks like there are a couple of members here who own and love these. Well I just got mine last week and just finished mounting my optic and rail accessories.

Very nice!

I've got the Green version, added a grip pod, the BDM 50rd and a Centerpoint red dot from Wally World (Walmart.com: CenterPoint 1x34mm Quick Aim Sight: Hunting). This .22 is SO fun, I like it more than my 10/22.

If I didn't just buy an other EoTech I would have a 522 myself. It will be my next .22lr. Btw can you co-witness your sights with the red dot?

Does the 522 eat the cheapo Wal Mart bulk 22 ammo?

The reason I ask is because locally, they are about the same price as the M&P and they feel a little better in the hand, to me.

I was going to go with the M&P15-22 because it came with open sights, had a last round bolt hold open and was reliable with the cheap stuff.

If the 522 is reliable with the cheap stuff...I might move my red dot from the 10-22 and go with the 522. I might be able to live without the bolt hold open...since my 10-22 never had this, either.

I still have not made my mind up....ugh!

Yes it is very good with all sorts of wally world ammo. Fact is, everytime you read a review about this rifle, one of the reviewers main points is that it eats up any sort of ammo u can feed it. One thing tho, get the federal bulk pack. For the last 2 days, I have shot 2 boxes about 1050 rds. and not one misfire!!! Thats amazing to me. But if i use remington or winchester, you are bound to get a couple of duds. But that is because of the ammo itself since the quality does suck. On the last round, the bolt is held open by the magazine follower. Thats the closest thing to a bolt open. I love this rifle and this is the main firearm I take to the range since its cheap to shoot compared to my other weapons. I hope this helps.

I have seen the SIG 522 for sale in the 380 dollar range on several sites. Some with free shipping.

Its awful tempting and I am re-considering the S&W with its sights and bolt hold open for the 522, because its so much cheaper and I can slap my red dot from my 10-22 on the thing and shoot happy.

Anyone seen it for sale cheaper than 375-380? I thought that was a very good price.

I thought the 522 has a bolt hold open. It takes the same mags that the S&W would so I don't see why not.
