Ammo or a Mosin Nagant? Tough descion

I am in an interesting situation. I have a $100 visa gift card and I was thinking of using it for 200 rounds of 5.556 ammo when at the base exchange I saw a Mosin (not sure what model, looked like a hex receiver though) for $100. I also have a 10% coupon good for anything in the store(including firearms) which would make the deal pretty sweet. The mosin looked like it was in excellent shape but I didn't have the time to handle it. I have been wanting a mosin for some time and ammo is really cheap for it right now. What would be a good choice. I have an Enfield too and I want to build a small WWII collection.

Sounds like you have already made your decision.

I am trying to tell myself "No more for the year" since I have already picked up a G19 and LCP. The G19 was a break up gift for myself since my ex wasn't too found of guns but this deal is hard to pass up. I am not sure if it will fit in my car though... Don't have much of a trunk since its a 350z but there is a way!

Get the Mosin, if that's the kind you want. I suspect you're seeing a 91/30 with the hex receiver.

But don't forget the carbines . . . M38 and M44 are the common ones. I personally like the M38, it's nice and portable, and lighter than the M44. Once the novelty of the M44 bayonet wore off, the M38 became my favorite.

Since I can order the ammo almost anytime, I feel like it it time to treat myself with the mosin. I am trying to forget the last 4 years and a mosin seems like it would be a good way to do that! Hopefully it is still there tomorrow.

Dude get the Mosin! I got a M44 last year...and want a 91/30 just to have. You will get a nice satisfying BIG BOOM everytime you pull the trigger!

Years ago, the Russian SKSs were 75 bucks apiece and they were everywhere. Seen a nice Russkie SKS lately? Yeah....they run about 300 bucks and up.

This WILL happen to the Mosin at some point in time, so buy one now and stock up on cheap ammo. You can shoot the 7.62x54R cheaper than 223 or 7.62x39 these days. In fact, its the last cheap centerfire surplus round (as you probably know if you have priced 303 lately).

Grab it...they're fun shooters and worth owning. You can laugh later on when people are paying 300 bucks a pop for them, as I do with the current SKS buyers.

I saw that yesterday, I wish I had a spare $100 lying around.
