For what they are asking...you can get a Marlin 1895 in 45-70 and have a much better rifle. Dad has one and its fantastic.
Do you reload? If not...I hope you have deep pockets, as the 45-70 is NOT cheap to shoot! LOL

Actually, if you handload, and want to push the .45-70 to its limits...I'd take a bolt action over a lever.
I have seen these rifles at shows, btw; a few years ago, you could pick them up cheap.

Marlin lever guns can take alot of high pressure loads never seen that to be an issue with them. When i think bolt gun i think a acurrate long distance round. a 45/70 past 100 yards is just so so to much drop i think a lever gun serves better for that round. But that bolt action is nice looking.
