I'm 99% sure that my state has no law against it (laws I've found only mention schools and beer barns), but I'm unsure as to what federal law says.
Can someone point me in a direction (other than the United States Code, it's a little confusing )? I'd be much obliged.
18 USC 930 (d)(3)
Seeeeeeeeems to indicate that I can carry onto/into a federal facility IF my purpose is lawful. Am I safe in assuming that carrying for protection is lawful?

The USPS will tell you illegal it carry in their facilities, and I don't think I'd argue with them personally. As far as a bank, it will depend on what state you live in, which we don't know.

This is what is confusing me:
18 USC 930
18 USC 930(a) says: You can't carry except for reasons in subsection (d). And (d)(3) says you can carry for lawful purposes.

I OC into my bank regularly and haven't had any problems, it is just another private business...
Post Office is Federal Property and you can't carry there IIRC, too lazy to look it up though...

It's a federal law that you can't carry in a post office.
You can carry in a TX bank unless they have a 30.06 sign. Most banks just have the little gun with a slash through it which means go right ahead unless you see the 30.06.
Funny thing is no where in the Concealed Handbook for TX does it mention the post office thing but it's illegal I even emailed DPS and asked if I could carry in a Post Office with a concealed licence. I got a one word answer - NO.
It looks like 18 USC 930 says you can carry into any federal facility.
BUT, 39 USC 410 appears to exempt the Post Office from 18 USC 930
Quote:
(a) Except as provided by subsection (b) of this section, and except as otherwise provided in this title or insofar as such laws remain in force as rules or regulations of the Postal Service, no Federal law dealing with public or Federal contracts, property, works, officers, employees, budgets, or funds, including the provisions of chapters 5 and 7 of title 5, shall apply to the exercise of the powers of the Postal Service.
(emphasis added)
Federal courts and post offices are a no-no, from what I understand (the USC is blegh to read)
39 CFR 232.1, federal regulations for the post office, is the law the SPECIFICALLY prevents firearms.
OK. Problem solved.

Federal buildings, i.e. Post office, court houses, etc..., you cannot carry in. Unless you are authorized to do so. IIRC, you being a federal agent or authorized by the judge. Every post office has it posted as well. This isn't something I would argue about though.
