Beretta M9/92FS
I have always wanted one since I was a kid (25 yrs ago ) . I know that they are now made in the USA and I have heard of the ealy ones having the broken locking block and some frames cracking . Well can some Beretta 92 owners here help me with the facts about this pistol . I am down to really getting one but I want to make sure . I may carry it time to time , yes I know its big , but so are my other carry guns. Any personal experience good or bad is welcomed and appreciated. I am still not sure if I want it new or used.

Get the third gen lock block and do not worry. Cheap insurance. Overall a good pistol, I liked it and the brazil sister made by Taurus. Some early slide problems but it was corrected, last I heard. Some do not like the 9mm caliber but with HP it fine.

Love mine no problems. Right now I'm trying to get the money together so I can get a second one.

I like the 92FS, but my hands are a bit small for them.
If you like the 92 design, check these out; I've always been a big fan of them: Stoeger Cougar Double-Action, Auto-Loading Pistol Beretta moved some of their machinery to Turkey because it was cheap to make guns there, and they decided to re-manufacture the Beretta 8000 Cougar as the Stoeger Cougar (Stoeger is owned by Beretta, so it's the exact same product with a different logo). It has the rotating barrel found on the Storm, making it accurate and low-recoiling. I'd check into it if you like the 92 design, especially since I've seen it $350 brand new. |

Handguns magazine just ran an article about that problem. Basically it was fixed within the first couple of years. Combination of crappy manufacturing and really hot factory loads. Nothing to worry about now. I want one for my collection.

The actual military M9 like all military weapons are manuf. state side even if the company is forigen. Like FN has a plant in Columbia, SC that mauf. all the A4s and SAWs and such for the military.
I've never been a big fan of the M9 (all the ones I've qualed with have been worn slap the F out) or the 92FS just because of their sheer size. And my experiences with the military M9. Most civilian owners love theirs though.
