Leaning toward an SKS or a Mosin. I can easily find 7.62x39 so more towards the SKS.

One point on the SKS, try to get your hands on one before you buy. I found them to be incredibly short from the butt to the grip and almost uncomfortable to hold with a proper cheek weld.

It's be farking sweet if you could get and SVT-40 or a Gewehr 43.

Don't see it happening, but a PPSh-41 would be fun.

I would opt for the Swiss K31. The Mosin Nagant rifles and associated 7.62x54r ammo are the least expensive milsurp option, but the Mosins are redially avalible and will be for the near future anyway. The Swiss K31's will be drying up soon so I would get one now if I was you. I have 3 and they are one of, if not the most accurate rifle I own, modern or milsurp and I own a lot of rifles. Swiss GP11 milsurp ammo is avalible and very clean (and not corrosive) and accurate ammo. Wolf also make ammo for the K31, its Gold line ammo is made by Privi Partisan and is also good ammo. I competed in the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Eastern Games matches this spring at Camp Butner, NC and the highest score posted by any shooter (over 200 shooters, mostly Garands) was shot with a K31.

Swiss K31 with St. Maries clamp on scope mount that does not perminently alter the rifle in any way. I can shoot sub MOA at 100 yards with this setup.

Noticed the ATF charged my credit card...bring on the C&R! I already have an order for Midway to make back my $30 in savings. Don't ask me how spending money saves money, it just does.
