anybody have a hi point 9mm/.40 carbine?

as ugly as it is, it appeals to me for some reason. reviews have said it is pretty accurate up to 100 yards, and also pretty reliable. lifetime warranty is nice also. price is pretty cheap.

A friend of mine has one..

I think it's ugly as sin...

but...

It has never jammed and will shoot anything you put in it.

I really don't like the 10 round magazine though...
For a carbine that is just to skimpy.

I still want one and for the price I still haven't figured out why I haven't picked one up.

i want one, but the ten round mag sucks. i would get one in 9mm but it isn't high on my to get list, but i like them. a friend of mine had a friend(yeah i know) and he said it was bada$$ and accurate. for the price it is a helluva gun from what he said. maybe i will pick one up next year, if it isn't forbidden by osama bin obama....

My dad used to have one...it was good. 10 round mags sucked, but it always went bang.

I have a HP 995 9mm and I installed an ATI replacement stock and Duracoated the metal and barrel shroud. It turned out nicely and with the ATI stock the carbine not only looks better it also handles better and feels much more solid. Its a fun little plinker that doubles as a good home defense option too. It only has factory 10 round mags which is a turnoff to some, but I like the little black devil. hard to beat for less than $210. With the stock, barrel shroud and Duracoat finish I applied, I still have less than $325 in the gun. With the red dot sight I have mounted I can consistantly hit a man size target out to 150 yards and keep all rounds in a 8" circle at 100 yards shooting standing off hand. 9mm ammo out of a 16" barrel performs remarkably well in this little carbine. Bullet drop starts to be a major factor at any distance beyond 150 yards but inside that range it effective and accurate.

I have one in the .40 caliber and I am pleasantly pleased with the performance. Believe it or not, it is one of my favorite shooters...

I thought about getting one a year or so back but was turned off due to the low capacity mag. I was going to wait it out until higher capacity mags came out..I actually forgot about them until this post...No high capacity mags yet I take it? Factory or aftermarket? That sucks because I bet they're fun.

*edit
Did a lil search and this was the first thing that came up:
AR15Pro.com: PROMAG HI-POINT CARBINE 9MM 15RD
15 rounds is a little better but i'd still like to see more in a carbine. Pro Mag though..meh

Seems this topic comes up every few months. Search "Hi-Point" and you'll see plenty on this subject. Keep the screws tight, don't take it apart to clean it and stay away from the off brand hi cap mags. Mine is plenty of fun and the same for my C-9 pistol too.
