What is it?

I found this gun while cleaning out my grandfathers old work shed, I've broken it down and started to restore it, but I have no idea what it is, the only markings are the one's I've shown below. It has a mauser action and guides for a stripper clip... anybody have any ideas?

Great find though.

Lawls, thanks... I think...

I can take pics of the stock, but it's unremarkable in every sense of the word, so I don't think it'd help much.

Its the receiver, barrel and most of the bolt assembly of a Mauser...looks like a 98 style, just can't tell exactly which one/or series of Mauser from the pics. its been drilled for a scope mount though.

has the barrel stamp been ground down? kinda looks like someone had a sporter project with a mauser.

id bet its a German. there is no eagles on the bolt? that kinda looks like an eagle next to the A on the bottom of the receiver. some pictures of the top of the barrel would help.

FTW. I saw it, and immediately knew what it was.

I couln't find any marks on the bolt, except for maybe something on the back, but it could be just rust....

Theat on the bottom of the reciever is an "X", an "A", an "&", something that look like a "t" and something that was right by the barrel but has been worn off through rubbing against the stock.

Here's one of the full assembly, I put the bolt back in BTW.

Here's some more marks I found on the barrel by the reciever.

Can anyone point in the direction of a good Mauser forum that might be able to help me?
