Been shooting for 40 years. These are NATURAL to me.

Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.

Never point a weapon at something you are not willing to destroy.

Keep your finger off the trigger until you have your target in sight and are ready to fire.

Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

Everyone needs to hear it, as many times as possible. I'm surprised you "never thought it would have to be restated".

There are many many many incidents of folks with 40+ years of shooting experience who forget these rule. You can never hear them enough.

I just remind myself.. I'm only a humble human, prone to mistake... Without humbleness some peoples words just bite them in the ass. Like me... and many other who call themselves "safe gun owners"... Remember... gun safety is safety on a PERSONAL level...

I hope the OP draws the correct conclusion from my statement.

My emphases was on the "here" part you left out. I guess reading a few of the comments on here recently really bugged me. This stuff was drilled into me before I was 10 years old. By the time someone is old enough to own a pistol they should "know where their finger is" and not be "taping loaded signs to their gun" or "working out a new unconventional way to rack a pistol".

I'm sure 99.9% here get it. But obviously some never will....or at least won't until it's too late.

I "think" I understand where you are going. Kind of a Karma thing right?

But trust me, if you are walking around the range with your finger on the trigger, expect to be "bit in the ass".
