Ruger LCP Range Report
Went to a local indoor range today and tried out the new Ruger LCP I have recently just purchased. I put 105 rounds of range .380 through it, only two hiccups. The first was the failure to chamber the second round. Then at approximately round 50, I had a light primer strike that didn't fire the round. And then maybe 2 failures to return to battery. I think those were caused by me getting tired of shooting the little gun. Its a bit of a handful and the trigger is nothing like my GLOCK's. I then tried two defensive rounds. One brand, Glaser Pow'R Ball, functioned fine. The CorBons seemed to to have a harder time, but out of 12 rounds, I had one failure to feed and one failure to return to battery. After that they worked great.
One problem I had though that royally sucked, is I kept dropping the mag while firing. Both one handed and two handed grips found me interferring with the mag catch. Other than that, I think it did well for its first outin and some break in.

So far, so good with the new LCP
I had a few hiccups with the first box but after that it has been pretty smooth sailing. I cleaned it and buttered it up with some white grease that I got from the smith. I really like this little LCP as a summer carry piece.

At over 150 rounds, not one problem with my LCP.
I've only fed WWB and Speer Gold Dots thru her. I did polish the entire barrel and guide rod when I got her.. She is certainly not a range gun. I also found that a finger tip on the trigger helped with comfort and accuracy. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Ruger LCP is my summer daily carry............

I might be picking up an LCP today (only 4 months on the waiting list!)...did polishing the barrel do much for reducing failures?
And what are people using for pocket holsters? I haven't seen that one around, Lowlife...

I also had several light primer hits with my LCP the first time out. I was using Sellier and Bellit ball ammo at the time. The little devil is a handfull since my bottom two fingers of my strong hand are not on the grip because of the small grip lenght. Kel Tec makes a mag grip extension for the P3AT that will work on the Ruger mags also, so I might try this to see if it helps.

I've been releasing the mag by accident as well, probably from holding on for dear life when firing.

I have about 100 round through mine and I haven't had a failure of any kind. I have big hands and I guess the fact that I'm left handed may make a difference on the mag release thing not happening to me.
Anyone that get one of these, take it apart and put a dab of gun butter, shooters choice grease or favorite rail lube (other than oil) on the rail. Clean this gun after every range trip and she will do you good. These little boogers are accurate. I was dancing a can around at 30 yds today.
