Marlin 99c Assembly Help
So...yeah.
Every time I log in, the forum calls me a loser for not posting anything and suggests I boost my self esteem by asking a ridiculous question and/or share something embarassing about myself, so here we go... Took the boy out to shoot the .22 and it finally gave out. When I went to clean it, I found that part of the hammer had broken off. Ordered a new one along with some springs (extractor and recoil) to switch out while I'm in there. Then the fun begins: (I'm not a gunsmith, but I do have an engineering background as you'll notice by my clever use of jargon.) When I took the clips off the side of the hammer assembly thingy, and slowly started to separate the rail doo-hickies along the side, the whole thing came undone like a finely tuned swiss watch in the hands of...well, me. Not wanting to waste my handywork, I decided to clean all the little bits and pieces before stuffing them in a ziplock (tm) for the gunsmith. Before I hand my gunsmith a bag of parts and a credit card, does anyone know of some detailed instructions on bringing this mess back together? I know it's not ruined, things just need to be finessed back together in the right order. Exactly the kind of thing you learn from making this mistake. But don't worry, you can tell me you read it in a book, or something along those lines. Your secret is safe with me. Rock on with your bad self. -E- |

Here is a link to disassemble the model 60. Its the son of the 99 so it may be similar enough that you can work it out.
Marlin Model 60 Disassembly I only have the model 60 so I can't compare the two. Good luck. |

But that helps me get the right terminology. The c-clips at the end of their story are the beginning of mine. I pulled those off since I need to replace the entire hammer mechanism. Thanks, though. I'll be in the corner with a bucket on my head. |
