You should be able to field strip and clean a gun before you go out to shoot it. If you can't perform this simple procedure you are not familiar enough with your weapon to be shooting it. What will you do when it jams? Take your time and learn how it works before you start shooting. Get someone to show you and get the manuals. Ruger's manual is online.
