I'm sure these are all really great, but I love that SP101. I like the hammer-less idea, but I saw a s&w(?) with what looked like a flattened hammer spur which I think could be used to put the gun into SA mode. Is this the case? and does the SP101 come with an option like this?

You're probably talking about the bodyguard models which have the very tip of the hammer exposed for SA fire.

I'm not sure if the Ruger comes with it, however it is nice to have.

A few more ideas to consider.

Don't miss out on trying an old M-19 if possible. Also keep your eyes open for a Colt Detective Special.

New is not always better.

I've got a Taurus 605 too, 2 1/4" barrel, bobbed hammer, and ported barrel. I don't know if they even make this one anymore. I've had it for about 12 years and have had absolutely no issues with it. Even with full power .357mag rounds it's not unbearable to shoot and very accurate at 5-7yds.

Nope. The normal and completely bobbed hammer are the only ways they make em.

I owned the S&W Mt lite 357. Love the light weight as far as CC. But it was to lite for a lot of shooting. They will bite your hand. I can shoot my Ruger SP101 all day with no bite. I sold it and bought the Ruger SP101.

SW 638 here with a Comp-Tac CTAC. Works great for IWB and OK for a pocket gun.
