Shot the FN SCAR today...

Very nice, no recoil and enough buttons and switches to make any gearhead happy. I really like the adjustable-height comb. Doubles and triples were easy, the rate of fire can't be much over 600 rpm. I hadn't shot full-auto in a long time and forgot how fun it is!

Anyway, just wanted to do some good-natured bragging before the weekend!

I refuse to buy a regular ol' M4/m16. I think even if someone offered to sell me one brand new for 400 bucks I would not accept. I do not refuse to buy a gas-piston operated M4/M16. Where do I sign up to get one of these?

I still think LWRC has the best piston system currently out.

You would be insane to not buy an M4/M16 for $400. Even if you didn't want it, you could sell it for much more than you paid for it, especially something full auto.

The civilian version of the SCAR is supposed to be out late this year, the last I heard. I'll believe it when it happens.

To the OP, I'm extremely jealous that you got to shoot a full auto SCAR. At first I wasn't too keen on the gun, but it's kinda grown on me over the course of a year. The thing that bugs me the most, is that it looks bulkier than my ARs. Is it, or does it just look that way in photos?

Just how many buttons and switches are we talking here. Enough to confuse you in a high stress situation. I mean how many more doodads do you need other than a safety and trigger?

...a mag release, a bolt release, and a charging handle. Other than those, and the things you mentioned, I don't know that the scar has any extras. Unless I am mistaken.

It was just an example for my dislike of the platform (not even the platform really... just the amount of unreliable operation I have experienced personally with one.)
