Remington 870 experts. Step inside.

My local dealer has an older Remington 870 Police shotgun. This is NOT the Police Magnum. It is the older 870 Wingmaster. It is blued(not park'd). Pistol Grip. It has an over-folding stock that has the cutout in the butt plate to fold flat and straddle the rear sight. Very cool gun. Anyone know anything about the 870 Wingmaster police Shotguns. Value? Reliability?

It looks mechanically perfect, except for the finish which is well worn. You know how a blued gun gets? Has magazine tube extension, and appears to be 8+1. He is wanting $370.00

Any thoughts?

I've got an 870 wingmaster for what it's worth and has been flawless. $370 sounds pretty steep though. You can buy a new Mossy 590 or 500 for $400. I haven't priced a new Rem in a while but if its in good condition it will last you a long time. I've had my 870 since I was 12 so a good 25 years old and it's shot everything I've feed it from reloads to slugs.

I'd go and get a brand new Remington express for that price.

Then add a stock and mag tube.

I have a few good shotties, including Benelli M1 and a Mossberg 590A1. I was just wanting to make sure I didn't pass up a bargain on a tacti-cool shotgun.

I will pass on this one based on the feedback from you guys.

I paid $299 for a brand new 870 with the 7+1 extension. I paid $720 for a Choate Mark 6 stock and matching forend.

If this gun is not a collectors item why spend the extra bucks on a home defense gun when a new one will perform as well or maybe better depedning on your intended use.

Either way will work I suppose but I would expect to get a better deal or I'd go new.

Here's mine, into it for $371 so far:

I've never priced a Remy 870, but I have seen prices on the forum for way less than what he's asking.
