Well, everyone that knows me knows im a gun nut and that I buy guns fairly often and also rehab some for friends. A guy I work with called me one night to say his dad had a COLT Combat Commander thats nickle plated and he HAS to sell it. I asked how much, he tells me $350.00.
Man, im like gun fund empty right now but I called a few friends, my hunting partner (sight unseen) said he would take it. Anyone that knows guns will know thats a STEAL!

I set the deal up to go down at my house since I know both people and its even ground for them both. The guy shows up with the gun and the finish is VERY rough. I tell him the finish is totaly shot and the value is going to suffer alot. We ended up getting him down to, are you ready for this?.........

$300.00!!!!!
We looked it up, the gun was made in 1980 and with that finish, it was considered rare, it was the matte nickle.
My buddy is turning it into a carry gun and its heading to the gunsmith for a new beavertail, maybe new sights and a trigger job. After he gets it back im going to bead blast it and then refinish it with MolyResin. Add some new grips and he is going to have a VERY nice carry 1911!

I just had to share, I only wish I would have had the cash at the time!

im kind of bitter i passed now lol....$300 is dirt cheap.
