Picked up a nice used, little pocket gun. Wanted a backup to the Glock. Something that was super light, very small footprint, and fit nicely in front pants pockets. Also wanted a tiny gun for those nights when the wife sends me out for a two liter of Pepsi, and I am too lazy to grab a piece or throw on a holster. This fit the bill. 8 + 1 rounds of .25 ACP. Hey, I know it is no manstopper, but 8 + 1 of .25 in some hoodrat's face should do the trick nicely.
I tested it out at 15 feet, and it would hold a nice little group. So far, it has cycled flawlessly. I put two boxes of Fiocchi ball through it. I also tested a mag of Hornady XTP. The reliability on these little buggers is supposed to be very good, so I am happy. Hey, for under $200, it is a worthy little investment, nice backup. Good for mountain biking, too, which I do a lot.

It may not be a "manstoper" but you will find very few people willing to take one voluntarily.

Nice little Bobcat. I've got a Tomcat that I use for the same thing. Very convenient little pocket gun carried in either front or back pocket depending on the pants I'm wearing. The Tomcat is a .32 cal.

i wouldnt want to be shot with a .177 pellet gun, especially in the eye. A .25 is enough to make anyone with a lick of sense run in the opposite direction. Unless they are stone cold crazy, hopped up on meth and PCP, then well thats why i carry a .45 ...... but i have been looking at some of these mini pocket guns to blow money on if there is a new ban on rifles. Of all the choices out there luvmysig what made you choose the beretta, was it just to good of a value to pass up? I do need something to carry when jogging and biking, roller blading etc since i am getting into shape again.

Basically, I didn't want to buy a junker Jennings or Raven. I did not want a Derringer. Beretta makes a VERY solid little pistol, yet it is still under 10 ounces. These pistols have been made on this platform for a VERY long time. At least 2 or 3 decades, if not longer, and they have a very solid reputation for cycling and feeding ammo. This particular model is even smaller in footprint to the Beretta 21A, that is why I did not go with a .22LR Beretta, plus I trust centerfire ammo a lot more, even though the .22 has a lot more velocity. It is 9 rounds of reliable .25. Better having that on me, than a HK USP in the safe at home. Also, it fits really well in tiny little bags that mount on my Mountain bike. I have a Ruger LCP, and this little Beretta is very much smaller, side by side. That is important when mountain biking. My little subby Glock was getting very uncomfortable on longer rides. My airlight J-Frames were no fun, either, as the cylinder bulges too much. This little Beretta is just perfect.

I like that Beretta. If you have some time will you please take a couple side by side pics with the LCP? I just got my LCP, haven't even shot it yet. I bought the LCP for times like you stated. But for mountain biking and such that little cat is perfect.. But I would be interested in the size comparison. For $200, I think you made a wise investment........... Thanks

Ask, and ye shall receive....
it is really kinda hard to see in these photos, but the .25 is significantly shorter. ![]() In this photo, I have the rear-most point of the grips(tails) aligned perfectly. So, the Beretta is significantly shorter in length, which makes a huge difference in the pocket. The LCP looks like a small gun is in your pocket, if you are wearing tight Khaki shorts. Or if the pockets are not baggy. The Beretta looks like a small bunch of car keys. The LCP is definitely a tich thinner, mainly due to the grip panels on the Beretta. The weight is almost identical. 9.4 and 9.10 ounces.

Wow, thank you Sir.........
I know the Beretta has the pop up barrel. Does it have to be cocked (hammer back) to fire? I mean does the trigger have DA, or SA only? I'm sure having that thumb safety is a good thing if bike riding. But if you ride like I do (the fun doesn't start until someone starts bleeding), I guess you might not carry it chambered while riding........ After years of toe straps, I'm still trying to get used to the clips I have on my new Trek.

Just curious more or less if it was something special over the sig p232, bersas, LCP, or the newer bobcats and tomcats. I have eyeballed a few tomcats, just not in a super hurry to buy one, ill get one if there is a ban on the rifles, right now i just want more rifles. Plenty of murders are done with .25 not that, thats your angle or goal. I saw some gang in chicago on gangland series on history channel this particular gang prefers and is known for .25s i see people killed with them all the time here in the news, not as much as 9mm, or 32 but they will get the job done, all ya need is one or two holes in a dude and buy your self a few seconds to run off. What do you carry it in when you jog or bike ? |
