M&P Question

Well I've never liked all the M&P posts here on XD talk, (I love all 3 of my XD's).
But I am looking for a compact 9mm, and I like the look and ergonomic grip of the M&P compact model. (not to mention an extra $30 off or 2 free magazines!! to sweeten the deal)

Anyone tell me what the MS (Magazine Safety) means? I see a MS model and a 'plain' model. What's the difference exactly? It's like $80 more for the MS model.

Please fill me in, the S&W website didn't even have the MS model listed, let alone technical specs for it.

Unless I'm mistaken thats probably a magazine disconnect safety. The concept is if the magazine is not in the gun it will not fire even though there is a round in the chamber. I beleive many LEO agencys require these when procuring weapons now. It allows a LEO in a gun grab situation to drop the magazine thus rendering the firearm useless until it is reinserted. I probably wouldn't spend an extra eighty dollars on it though

Thats correct. However its odd they charge more for the ms model. Most people hate the MS.

Yeah, I wouldn't get the MS model unless it was the only one left.

That's kind of what I figured MS meant, but I couldn't believe they charged that much more for it. I will definitely get the cheaper model, I don't like the mag safety setup myself.

Thanks for the feedback.

the M&P9 I had for a month or 2 and then sold had the disconnect safety. It didn't really interrupt range use but I was still not a fan of it.

I have a M&P9C and it really is a nice gun. Very accurate and mild recoil. However after apprx 400 rounds the magazines started to drop/release and more than a few times the slide would lock open w/a round in the mag.
I sent it back to S&W and they supposely fixed the cause of both problems.
Only shot 100 rds since and no problems at all so far.
