FNH PS90 Bullpup Carbine

I am close to buying an FNH PS90 semi-auto bullpup carbine. It shoots a flat-shooting, high-velocity, 5.7 x 28mm round. It comes with a 30 round mag that can be converted to 50 rounds. The magazine inserts length-wise and the rounds turn 90 degrees as they are loaded into the chamber. The shells eject out the bottom (a brass catcher can be purchased). Because of the bottom ejection and duplicated controls, this gun is fully ambidextrous.

The reason why I want a PS90 is that I shoot at an indoor range that does not allow high-powered rifles, but does allow submachine gun rounds. They rent a full-auto, short-barreled FNH P90.

There is a white reticle optic that fades out and has been phased out. The USG black reticle is much better and the prefered optic. Or you can buy a railed model and put on your own optic.

Yesterday I had the day off, so I called a listed "full line" FNH dealer who said he had 3 NIB PS90's with 50rd mags for $1590 each. His web sight showed a huge fully stocked gun room with walls and walls of guns. I double checked to make sure it was the black reticle model and confirmed the price. These fetch between $1850 and $2100 locally. I asked, are you sure, because I live way across the state. He said yes, so I drove the 110 miles to his shop in a far corner of my state.

When I got there, the "shop" was a little hole in the wall, a small booth in a craft bizarre/antique showplace. The shop owner was short, obese, and perfectly round with his belt high up around the fat part of his belly. He looked like a globe. He was busy helping a little old lady with arthritis and a bad shoulder who could not rack the slide on an Glock, not for the lack of trying 100 times. But she was determined to try every friggin' auto pistol in the shop. Nope can't rack that one, lemme try that one, nope, lemme try another one, nope.....Never once did the dealer suggest a revolver. She left empty handed. The lady's husband was there but was holding her purse and had zero interest in guns. You can imagine, I was ready to climb the walls at this point.

I patiently waited my turn and he pulled a PS90 off the wall rack. I could tell from a distance that it was a lousy white reticle model (the black reticle sight has squared off corners as in the above photo). All three in stock were the lousy white reticle models that nobody wants. He thought I meant the black alloy sight housing. AArrrggh! I had to drive back the 110 miles with no PS90! Burned a full tank of gasoline for nothing! His ignorance of his merchandise was appalling. I felt like spinning this guy on his axis, but thanked him and left with an FNH catalog. This guy doesn't know diddly about selling guns.

Luckily there is a gun show in my town this weekend. I will have to pay a lot more than $1590 for a good one though.

This is another option, which is not yet available: the AR-57 complete upper. Fits onto a standard AR-15 lower, uses the 50 round PS90 magazine, and ejects out the mag well. AR-57 Upper Receiver coming soon! - $695.00 : Military Gun Supply, Your #1 Source for Military Guns, Ammunition, and Accessories

Very interesting design. Still, I think the PS90 wins the cool factor hands down.

I want to thank you, sir. This may be THE reason to buy an AR type weapon. I really like the FN 5 7 and the rounds. To this day I had a slight interest in buying anything AR related. This would be a good start

Realize that there is an attachment called the REM2 - It is an LED attachment for the light collector on the white ringed sight - It REALLY makes a difference.
