I've gone through many, many Kel-Tec's, Kahr's, Seecamp's, etc. looking for the ideal pocket gun. I've always returned to the S&W J-Frame because of it's awesome reliability and more substancial caliber. I can't complain that I've ever had a "lemon" semi-auto from any of the manufacturers I mentioned, but with all of them I had a few malfunctions, likely attributable to me, but I've never had any malfunctions with any of my snubbies. My pocket gun of choice is a S&W 642 with CT LG-405 grips.

Stick with the Snubbie! It's the best pocket gun ever made! You'll definitely regret trading it in. Sounds like you have a pretty good little setup that you are familiar with and that you know works. I wouldn’t trade all that, at a loss, just to get the new “fashionable” pocket gun.

No contest...the J frame. The reliability is head and shoulders above the LCP.

Nice avatar larz.............
Yes, I'm keeping the 642. I've been carrying it daily since the day I bought it two months ago. My birthday is in July so I think I'm going to buy myself the LCP for my birthday. I'm going to my gun store and put one on order. The gun store I went to yesterday has them for $399, the MSRP $330. I can put one on order at my usual shop (B&S Guns) for $299. I think the $399 price is only because he has them in stock and no one else does. But whats the hurry? I can wait a couple months. Thank you all for reinforcing what I should do........

Just an update;
I'll be keeping the 642. I put a deposit down to get on the waiting list for an LCP. I'm third in line and should have in two or three weeks. There is no hurry. My birthday is in July and this will be my gift to myself....... I'll let yall know how it turns out......................

The decision was easy for me. I'm left handed. Revolvers are just too awkward for me.
Any other southpaws with the 642?

Another lefty here, have not gotten my paws on the LCP yet (key word here is yet). But my pocket gun is a Taurus 605, which is a j frame ripoff in .357 mag. yeah flipping the cylinder out is a hassle, I have gotten used to switching hands for reloading over the years. That said, I would much rather have the 5 140 gr corbons going down range than the .380 rounds
