I've never ordered from Botach.

But I've seen numerous threads on various gun boards about them over the last several years.

From what I've read, IF they have what you want in stock you probably won't have any problems. If they do not have it in stock you will have a lot of heartache. You also stand a good chance of getting a run around if you try to return something you bought.

I would not order anything from their web site, I would write down the order numbers and call them up. I would specifically ask them how many of the item you wanted they had in stock.

If you guys haven't actually ordered anything from them, you shouldn't be offering advice about services that you really know nothing about. If you have an actual experience to relate, please do so... but this third or fourth hand info is really not valuable to members and not fair to the vendor.

I have ordered from them, ergo, my statement about language/I.Q. barrier; also my caveat re the Better Business Bureau. What's unfair is having a shady vendor charge your credit card immediately, whether what you've ordered is in stock, or not.

If you have ordered from them you are 100% entitled to post your experiences and opinions positive or negative. I have no problem with that.

Update........ My Order from Friday shipped today. That was pretty fast.... Oh and via ups. The only bad thing is that you will be paying $10 for shipping no matter what.

All that is true but alleged info is alleged info. You don't know if it is true or not. If it is a choice between folks with first hand experience reporting those experiences and "he said this happened to someone else..." there is no question which is more valuable. It's a no brainer to me.

I'll agree that firsthand experience is the best source of information.
However, I also think it's better to learn from other people's mistakes than to make it yourself just to be sure you're dealing with firsthand information.

I've read enough reports about people's dealings with Botach to not want to do business with them. I don't know any of these people except via the Internet - so in that respect, none of it's firsthand knowledge to me. But it pretty much falls along the lines of what people have said here so far - if they've got it in stock, you'll get it pretty quick. If they don't they'll never let you know they don't, and you'll never get any quicker resolution by trying to contact them on the phone or via e-mail. The problem will sort itself out just as soon whether you contact them or not.

I recently ordered some QuickClot, some Israeli pressure bandages, some training equipment and a Cold Steel Tanto Spike. The Tanto Spike was out of stock.

I got an email from asonja immediately informing me that it was out of stock. I suggested a substitution and she offered to waive shipping if I wanted that. It turned out that she was able to get a supply of the Tantos and I got the Tanto with my order on time. Pretty good service if you ask me.

So what you are saying certainly did NOT happen in my case for my 4/10/08 order from Botach. So I reiterate... be guided by genuine experience and not second hand rumors. If anyone has been poorly treated by them by all means report the incidents. But based on my experience, I would order from them without hesitation. And I have done so for over a dozen years.
