As it stands right now, the thread still has a title of "FN FiveseveN WARNING" when it should read "I blew up my FN because of MY MISTAKE." As such, this still reads as bad press for FN, even AFTER they stepped up to take care of this guy.

Negative press dominates the internet much more than positive press. If the shooter admits guilt, I think they should have the thread deleted or completely rewritten. Chiming in at the end of a long thread and admitting it was your fault doesn't help. Hell, we still have people posting here in this thread blaming the gun even after the guy admitted it was HIS fault! Again, no one is going to read all the way through that. I think he has some responsibility to remove this bad press from the web, whether he can take care of it himself, or if he needs assistance from one of the forum moderators.

Nobody's reputation should be squashed because of someone's hasty reaction to an unfortunate event. FN took care of this even though they didn't have to, but they still have a NEGATIVE post on the internet that many in the online shooting community have seen. I think the responsible adult thing to do here is recant.

Amen Brother.

I actually took the time to read through the whole 39 pages of the original thread and honestly, in this case FN went above and beyond what one could expect from a handgun manufacturer.

Loading, even loading old and slow calibers like the 30-30 can and does result in overcharges. In this case, the damage to the casing showed ALL of the classic signs of overpressure.

We are NOT machines folk and we do screw up.

If you reload, the ONLY sane position to take is that EVER cartridge is overcharged until you check every possible way, and then, don't be surprised if you missed one.

This clearly proves the point I'm trying to make.

Guy blows up his gun with an overcharged reload, FN finds this out, yet still replaces the gun (which is NOT covered by warranty), but this still reads as bad press for FN because people won't take the time to read through an entire thread.

If anybody is going to sue anybody, I'd say FN could sue the shooter at this point!

Perhaps a PM to the OP to edit the first post and thread title would be an appropriate remedy (for this forum at least)

He should have sent pictures in with his account of what happened and waited for FN to respond. It looks like it took awhile because they were doing testing of their own to see what caused the problem.

Edit my post? I was just throwing up something I read on the other forum. It is kind of like putting up a news story. You don't go back and change the title once it has happened. Along with my post is a date. If you look at the correlation in date between when this was posted and what was going on in the other FN thread you will notice that this is all on the same timeline. It would be different if I posted it yesterday after FN had come back with the verdict.

Eh, I thought about that for a second just now and decided that instead of editing the post I would append to it. That way none of the old info changed, and to someone reading this for the first time they can see that this was not as it seemed when it was posted.
