I sold my only XD!

Well, I did it. I sold a perfectly good firearm just to finance another firearm purchase. Not only was my XD good, it was excellent; it was very difficult to finally let it go. Fortunately, I sold it to my cousin so I will be able to see it anytime I want, but I still feel guilty. I know I will regret it but I take solace in knowing I will have another in the future.

What happened? I was bored and was drawn to the mystery of H&K but didn’t have the money. So, my cousin gave me a good price for my XD and I got a good price on the HK and that was that. So here it is, my new Heckler & Koch USP 9mm. I hope you guys will still let me hangout around here even though I technically no longer own the venerable XD?

Congrats on the new usp. They are nice guns. The first pistol I ever shot was a usp40. You are going to have to get another XD though.

I like the USP although in 9mm it seems odd to me. Such a big pistol shooting a fairly small round. I've never fired one, but it's certainly interesting.
A .40 or .45ACP in the USP seems a bit more "balanced" in my book.
I sold a XD in the past too and I wished I had that back aswell as many many other rifles and pistols I've set free.

Let us know how it shoots.

Nice HK, I would love to get one some day. We definitely need a range report.

"Mystery" is the key word there. The HK isn't "all that" but everyone seems to think so. It's nice but not better made than an XD, you'll probably like the safety, for me it's the best feature. You WON'T like the mags once you try to buy some lol.

Yes we defintely need a range report!

The pics are good though - thank you!

If you don't mind my asking: is the HK new? How much was it?

By the way, not to make you feel bad, but I have regreted all but one of the guns I parted ways with - the one I didn't regret was an AMT .380 back up that jammed more than a rock group. So take time in the midst of your H&K celebration to grieve the loss of a trusted, reliable, accurate, and well made friend your XD.

I understand your point but I own, and have owned, larger calibers and 9mm has always been my favorite. I have no doubt this monstrosity could chew up 45’s pretty easily but I bought this gun with plate shooting tournaments in mind. I can start with it “cocked and locked” just like a 1911 and then I get a light, crisp single action pull with the minimal recoil of the 9mm in a large, well balanced pistol. Then, when I come home and set it in my bed stand it will be loaded with Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +p which can be cooking at about 1250 ft/sec out of this barrel; that gives me piece of mind.

I did get a chance to shoot a used USP 9 before I bought mine. Right off the bat I was shooting it as well as my XD! That used (broken-in) USP shot very well and recoil felt pretty tame and predictable. So that sealed the deal for me. Unfortunately, my next range trip with my USP (Same day) was a little less satisfying. I was pulling my shots a little more than usual and the trigger pull wasn’t as “clean.” I guess to sum up my first range trip with my HK was that it shot well but everything felt tight. I’m sure with time everything should break-in nicely, including the trigger. I’m excited! Oh, and it ran flawlessly through those first 100 rounds.

I choose my words carefully and you are absolutely correct; I honestly can’t deny that “mystery” was a big draw for me. Maybe, I’m a sucker for HK marketing, but what the hell… I only live once! Besides, I’ve rarely heard anyone have anything bad to say about HKs bedsides “they’re overpriced.” Maybe they are but, that is something I will discover for myself.
Not looking foward to purchasing mags! LOL
