hikeeba,
Congrats on the 10-22. That would have been my vote. I too went a little overboard on mine. The only thing original is the receiver - otherwise new trigger group from Volquartson - simply awesome, new barrel from Green Mountain Barrel - 16" bull barrel with hi-viz sights, full size (the little stocks drive me nuts) Butler Creek synthetic stock with built in bi-pod. It is very handy, not really heavy, incredibly accurate, and a lot of fun to shoot. Regarding the pistol - here is a thought, what about getting work done on your existing MKII? I got sent the frame to Volquartsen for a trigger job and then sent it back to them for a new (target bull barrel). It is just amazing! Now I really, really, really want to get a SW 41. That is the cat's meow for awesome production .22 target pistol. Here are a couple of pics: 5 1/2" and 7" bbl ![]()

I have a couple dozen 22 rifles. The one I use the most by far is a 10/22. The compact or "youth" model is a great little gun.

I really enjoy my 10/22. I just ordered a CZ American as well. This is the 10/22 the first day out with it from 50 yards. I was pleased with the accuracy with 10 cheap rounds. 10/22's are not known for their out of the box accuracy, but I'll take this. Naturally, I made some adjustments to the scope. This is the only target I kept.

I have a 10/22 that I have had for about 15 years, and it has been great after about 3500 rounds. Great guns, you can't go wrong with one. I also have a Henry .22 that I absolutely love. I have had to replace 2 extractors, and the original carrier (it was plastic) but a call to the factory is all it took to cure those problems. I have about 5000 rounds through it, by far the slickest lever i have ever found, and very accurate with the factory iron sights.
Both are great guns, but just for paper punching and squirrel hunting, I would go with the Henry.

I can vouch for the Walther P22 its fun to shoot & looks cool as hell. Ive also shot the Sp22 looks wierd but a great little shooter. Just to make you think a little more check out the Beretta Neos is a fairly new gun really fun & accurate & the possibilities are endless with this little gun.

magnum research makes a light weight tack driver.mlr - 1722. carbin fibre barrel, light trigger, custom stock. a little pricey for a 22 but a nice gun. a lot of fun to shoot at 60 yards. setting up a 100 yard range to shoot it and don't think i'll have a problem

I love my bolt action marlin. 25n model. I dont know if they still make that exact model, but have similar ones. I think it is very accurate and has a 7 round mag.

10/22's are great, cheap, and plenty of mods to make whatever you want out of them.
