I moved down here from Pennsylvania about 8 months ago. I have yet to take myself or my son out to shoot since we've been down here (shame on me). I've been trying to find a nice place that I can take my son to shoot and have yet to find anything except the Hernando County Sportsman Club. Looks like a nice place, but also looks like it can get expensive. Anyone have any suggestions? My XD 45 is getting bored sitting in the closet. Thanks

Move back, I HATE Florida! Not kidding either. Moved down here 2.5 yrs ago. Great for gunnies, but overall, don't like. Too hot, lot of idiots running around, crazy politicians, crazy religious zealots, bad drivers, real estate bubble (although now may not be a bad time to buy, or is it?). Real estate taxes are barbaric for new transplants, totally unfair. Car insurance rapeage, homeowners insurance rapeage. Other than that, Welcome!

Can't help you up there, I live in Tampa. Find a gunstore and get a free copy of the Rods & Guns mag. They have listings of shops/ranges in the back.

Hernando Sportsman's Club is a nice range with multiple facilities for different disciplines. The range fees are not out of line with what you'll find elsewhere in the "Bay area." They also host 2 and 3 gun competitions each month, although with the current trends in ammo pricing, it can be expensive if you wish to compete. 200 rounds minimum for shotgun and pistol can get mighty expensive for one day's shoot. In fact, I haven't competed in about a year in ANY discipline due to ammo prices.

If you're up in that neck of the woods, I don't think you'll find a range without hoppin in the car for an hour's drive.

sweet your not too far from me... i go to the firing line on ridge road in port richey...its pretty decent and fairly average on the prices around here...Firing Line Gun Range & Cartridge Company

I live in New port richey
I've been to the firing line, nice place, they have 45acp 50 RD of reloads 15.25 a box. It became very smokey last time I was there
