ok so i made dumb choice on trying to dissasemble this thing, and i put back together wrong and now the mainspring housing wont come out all the way, anyone got any suggestions.

You mean short of "take it to work & give it to one of the gunsmiths"????

Actually the 'take it to work' could be good if you will then post what was done to "fix" it so when the rest of us make the same error we know what to do......

yeah the i work at the ruger in NH, the automatics are made in prescott AZ. That and it can be a pain to bring them in. I know whats wrong with it just not sure what the fix is. Basically the main spring cap didn't fall in were its supposed to in the main spring housing.

Wiggle the lever a bit and give it a good tug. It should pop out.

I had trouble with the process on these, but with practice it's actually very easy.

I've stripped and cleaned my 22/45 probably a dozen times now and I still get the manual out to help with reassembly.

if you have a magazine disconnect, put an EMPTY mag in it, pull the trigger, and whack the barrel against the carpet a few times. That should put the hammer back in the right position and you should be able to take it down.
