I forgot about this one. Never heard anything but good things about the S&W 3913 or 3913LS.

Product: Model 3913LS Pistol

my wife started with a Smith 908, which teaches everything you probably need to know about safety mechanisms, DA/SA and trigger control (they're also pretty cheap). I then moved her to a G17, then on to an XD40 and XD45.

when you are all done, the 908 still makes a good carry gun (mainly b/c it's flat).

One thing I've found with my wife is that she can't shoot anything double action very well. She pulls her shots low and gets frustrated.

We rented a Kimber Pro Carry II and her shooting improved immensely.

So, when the time comes to get her CCW it will probably be the Kimber or maybe the EMP if we can try one. (It figures that her gun will cost twice what mine does, LOL.)

Got my wife a small Taurus .357 today. She has never shot a gun before, so this should be fun. She didn't want a semi-auto as she does not like racking the slide.

What about a Taurus Millennium Pro?

They come in .32, .380, 9mm, .40SW, and .45ACP. Plus they are real cheap (can be had for a little over $300). My dad carries a PT745 2-Tone daily (it's a 7-round .45), plus it has a manual thumb safety. The recoil for the .45 is a little snappy for most people, but I'm sure the 9mm would be fine and definitely manageable for her (haven't shot one in 9mm, only .45)
