Smith & Wesson 4506
I have owned a Smith & Wesson model 4506 for many years and bought it brand new. Granted, its "old school" and newer technology has passed it up and of course its no longer in production but for some reason, I really like this pistol.
Its heavy and its big and therefore, it has never had CHL carry duty but this Miami Vice era gun shoots very well and, at least in my opinion, is a pretty cool gun. Anyone else have one and if so, what are your impressions |

We must see it..................
I almost bought a 4013 tactical 12 or so years ago that was much like the Smith & Wesson 4506. I ended up with a Sig P229 instead.

My Dad has a stainless 645...the model that Don Johnson carried before the Bren Ten. I have shot it a few times and yes, its not a bad shooter at all.
I don't care for its weight and the safety is sort of funky but it is reliable and I can hit with it. I don't see me running off to trade my 1911s or P220 for one, but they're definately well made, good shooting guns. I can see why you like the 4506. Smith autos lack overall appeal compared to their excellent revolvers, but you can't say they don't work well or that they're poorly made. Good thing is that you can get police trade in Smith autos like 4006s and 5906s for a song these days. I have often thought about picking up one of those 4006s - I see really clean ones selling for well under 300 bucks. - Brickboy240

Our officers carry this pistol. It its a nice piece, but it is heavy. They are changing out next year to the M&P 45. I let our training team use my XD45. Most liked it but the admin wants to stick with the S&W line since our armorors are S&W certified. I tried!

i have the 645 and i love it for a time i thaught about trading it for a xd45 but the thaught soon left as it is as reliable as the day is long . true its heavy but it feels good in the hand and points naturally for me. mine is a transistional model before the went to the 4506 in thay mine has the 3 dot set up used on the 4506 rather than the orange ramp front sight.

My 4506 has the Novak no snag sights from the factory with the 3 white dots. I have installed Hogue rubber grips but its stock other than that as the sights are great.
