Looking for a shotgun, advise?
Hey Everyone-Looking for a 12gauge.
Not sure what I really want, I know it surely wont be used much. I dont hunt, or shoot clays. If I do its definetly very seldom. Always enjoyed the look of a double barrel, however for home defense? What do you think? Curious, can you keep it loaded without any worry? I have been also thinking about the mossberg 500. Again, I understand the benifits, however since it will only be used occasionally at the range-do I just go with a basic pump or look at the double barrel? They are both pretty close in price- I also feel pretty confident about using either one when it comes to home protection- I would just like to hear everyone's thoughts about the subject. I can get a Remington Spartan 220 for about $290- I can get the Mossber 500 for about $299- What do you think?

Remington 870,Mossberg 500-590,Winchester 1300 Defender.Cant go wrong with any of them. For HD of course go with the pump,7+1,8+1 and some are 9+1 there may be more than two perps.Ive kept my Winchester loaded for years,it dosent hurt the spring at all.

My Mossy 500 rests nuzzled in the corner next to my headboard. I love it. Can't go wrong.

If you want and need more firepower and are willing to spend more money. I'd recommend the Saiga 12. My Tromix SBS should be completed this week. How can you go wrong with an 8" barrel with the option of 5,8, 10, and 20rd mags/drums?
ETA: Not to mention a folding stock...one that you can use while it's folded. |

Mossberg 500/590
or Remington 870 those are the top 2 as far as price, reliability, and aftermarket support go. i personally have a Mossberg, and would love an 870 too...but if i ever get another shotgun, it would be the Mossberg 930 SPX O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. - Firearms, Shotguns, Rifles, Accessories, and Precision Machining i dont hunt, or anything with my slug gun either....just a range/zombie/HD option...very fun to shoot.

My recommendation:
Find a used Remington 870 Wingmaster and get an 18" barrel for it. When its at home, keep the short barrel on it and load it with your choice of defense loads. If you ever decide to give hunting a try, slap the original barrel on it and you have a damn good hunting gun

SHOTGUN Recommendations????
Check this thread out. It might help you. But as everyone has been saying and will always say: (For the price range) Rem 870 or Moss. 500/590 and you can't loose. Each have a plethora of accessories and a reputation to boot. All versatile for HD/Hunting/General Use. |

The Remington 870 is wildly popular. I would say the Mossberg 500 would be a good solid choice too, probably a little cheaper too.

Browning BPS is a nice pump gun.
-Bottom eject so your empties end up right at your feet. -No spring loaded lifter gate (the lifter finger hide beside the bolt) making loading faster and easier. -Thumb safety, combined with the bottom ejection makes is a very ambidextrous shotgun. -Available in all black for that tactical look. -Bottom eject lets you mount side saddles on either or both sides of the receiver. It is hard to find magazine extensions but all in all a very nice shotgun.
