Sig P-225 questions on slides

I was reading about the Sig P225 and i read that some had stamped slides. Is this true? If so does anyone here know if they are as durable as the rest of the milled 225's? I am talking about the older used police/military surplus P-225's/P-6's .

My P6 sure doesn't seem stamped. Maybe it is. But I bet I can't wear it out.

Yeah, I don't know why people worry about stuff like that. Sure , its cool to say, but are you really gonna wear a sig out anytime soon?

Just wondering , I was gonna get a Cz-83 in .380 like I have now for a spare gun for parts and when I got down to getting it , I saw a Sig 225 that was a police turn-in . It had a lot of holster wear but seemed great . So I left in frustration. I already have a CZ83 but not a Sig 225 , so I may get it . I know the mags have a limited capacity like of 8 rds but I stilll want it . THe slide didnt seem stamped but I saw a lot of threads saying it was on older models .

I was slightly concerned when I researched the p6 prior to buying and read it was stamped. Honestly I can't tell. It is as thick and substanital as my xd. I was imagining more like auto body sheet metal gauge. Its about 1/8" I don’t think I could ever wear it out. I would not even suspect it is stamped if I didn’t read it was. The p6 appears very well built and I am not worried. My only regret is not ordering sooner and maybe I got a lesser quality finish for waiting. For the extra $30 consider ordering from dans, the ones I have seen on here and other forums look very dark finish. Mine is about hmm 70 % -75%. Not a huge deal, the insides are very mint.

Maybe mine isn’t stamped though, it is marked January 1982. Do you have a time period they began stamping. I am not an expert, it appears parts have been machined on the bottom of the slide, if it was infact a two part and welded I cannot seem any weld lines where they were joined.

Tercel, also consider the frame is aluminum, so that would be worn down by the slide, long before the slide fails.

take a look at this pic the slide isnt puny.

See the flat spot on top of the slide between the ejection port and the front sight? THAT'S a stamped/rolled Sig slide.
But consider this:
The P228 is considered one of the finest 9mm guns ever produced. The P228 has a stamped/rolled slide. The P229 is basically the 228 with a milled slide to better deal with the forces generated by the 40S&W cart. If you're gonna shoot 9mm don't even worry about it.

Yeah 9's are very easy on pistols in terms of wear and tear. If you have a P6 just shoot the hell out of it and don't worry about it. Might wanna grab some spare parts before they dry up.

nikkon and kaboom, what parts are most likely to break in your opinion, what all should i order now. Ill order what ever is likely even if in the future, it can only add to the value of the gun, in the very unlikely situation i would sell it.

should i order all orginal factory parts, or is their anything particular that an aftermarket is actually superior i should get ?

You know what. You can send that into Sig and they will replace all the springs and such ( no major parts ) and function check it, add night sights for a bit over $100. If the finish is really good and it has no major mechanical issues it might be both the cheapest and easiest way to go.
