I've never heard anything but good from the reliabilty reports on these (and most other FN firearms). I had the option to pick one up a while back at a great price, but passed because it just felt "toy-like" in my hand.

fn makes a fine weapon in all respect. i have a couple of their products in the 5.7's. their customer care is second to none. their weapons shoot well and are reliable, no regrets.

I was actually thinking about buying an FN Five-Seven. Im surprised that they are legal here in california. Figure they are cool, but more of a novelty than anything. Dont know if I want to spend that much on a novelty gun. It just doesnt seem all that pratical to me, but it does seem pretty f'ing cool.

I'm not familiar with the ballistics associated with the 5.7. What is the round designed for / what is it good for?

I almost bought an fn from cdnn. I ended up with a sig but that was just because the deal was too good to pass up. cdnn has some deals on fns right now, you may want to check them out.

anyways the only bad rumor i have heard about the fn is that sometimes the trigger will crack, the times this has happened fn has been very good at resolving the problem and returning the pistol.

The FNPs are nice guns. There was a minor issue with a few of them receiving a bad batch of trigger/firing units installed. FN had redesigned that section to make it stronger. And, they are replacing the affected piece for free (and even paying shipping).

So, if you read older posts concerning this issue, don't fret about it.

As for the Five Seven, I have 1 and it is a nice gun. Come check out the FN forum if you want to learn more about either gun. www.fnforum.net

I believe that only applies to the FNP-40 models. The 9mm's are fine.

I own an FNP-9, and I have to say, the gun rocks. Love it, love it, love! Very nice and accurate shooter, and comes apart like a Sig.

If the 9mm is as nice as the 40 version I borrowed last summer...yeah...I'd say their very nice guns. The price on these is great, too and you get three magazines. It looks like FN did their homework and I don't know anyone that owns one and hates it.

Yeah, if you're in the market for a d/a s/a 9mm hi cap pistol...the FNP9 really has alot going for it. They also seem to be very well made and nicely finished.

There were reports about the 9mms as well - but, it is a non issue now...
