I didn't think much of this pistol at first but it seems like it's gaining a respectable reputation. I may point my dad in this direction for his first "real" handgun instead of the P226/229 I had previously recommended (he wants hammer fired DA/SA).

I've played with the 9 and the 40 at the local shops... it seemed to be a very nice piece altogether & the construction was nice & tight. You can't really go wrong w/ FNH products.

So, how would I know if my model is fine or not???

I've been really happy with the FNP-9. A friend of mine tried to convince me into getting an HK or Beretta. I have nothing against either. But after handling the FNP-9, I saw no reason to pay hundreds more for those when the FN felt very good, built very well, and was fun to shoot and be real accurate with. It's a better gun than I am as a shooter. And FN's customer service is fantastic, I've heard.

FN's customer service is indeed very good.

I called FN's plant in Virginia and talked for a long time with one of their smiths about the FNP pistols. He answered everything I asked and told me about the testing and what went into the FNP. As far as warranty work, he told me if I bought one and needed any part, call them and if it ever failed...send it back and they'd make it right and ship it back for free. Gotta love customer service like that. You will NOT get customer service or similar treatment from SIG or Kimber...been there!

I can honestly say that someday an FNP-9 might make its way into my collection. They seem too good to ignore and a bargain for the money spent.

My understanding the 5.7 was designed to defeat light body armor. Could just be hearsay, Google search it for more details.

Either way I have shot the FN5.7 several times and really enjoy it. Very flat shooting and Accurate. The last one I got to shoot was suppressed,

MySpaceTV Videos: FiveSeven with supressor by Dale

This is my Buddy Dale in the video. in Wickenburg, AZ - at the abandoned vulture peak mine.

though I didn't get the tech info on the ammo we were running, it was allot of fun. I have the 5.7 on the must have before 08 Presidential election list among a couple of AR lowers, and other (Expected to be banned) Items.
