Ruger SR9 owners PLEASE READ ...

I just got a memo from one of my Vendors about this problem so anyone that owns one of these be aware - please read below ...

DO NOT USE YOUR SR9 PISTOL!

Ruger has determined that some SR9 pistols manufactured between October 2007 and April 2008 can, under certain conditions, fire if dropped with their manual safeties in the 'Off' or 'Fire' position. The pistols will not fire if the manual safety is in the 'On' or 'Safe' position.

Ruger will retrofit all Ruger SR9 pistols starting with Serial Number prefix "330" (330-XXXXX) with these new parts at no charge to our customers.

In order to ensure correct fitting, this new part must be installed at the Ruger Factory in Prescott, AZ. They will remove the old parts and install the new group promptly at no charge and will return the pistol to you. The old parts will not be returned.

And this is why I will never run out and get first-run models. Not just with guns, but with cars, electronics, anything. I always wait until the bugs and kinks get worked out.

I think the SR9 is a pretty sweet gun, and RUGER makes their stuff be really durable. The KP345 rolled out with a few of its own "issues", but man, they are sweet .45acp shooters! I love mine. Someday, I'll be getting the SR9 too.
