I just got a norinco SKS, and having never shot a rifle before i was able to hit soup cans concistantly at 100 yards.

Years ago, I worked at a pizzeria in Chicago. One of the cooks had a friend/relative/acquaintence who would sometimes swing by. He'd park in the alley next to the kitchen door and we'd all go out and buy stuff out of his trunk. On one of his visits, I noticed what looked like the handle of a pistol sticking out from under the rag it was wrapped in.

Keep in mind that I was eighteen or so with all of the machismo and testosterone laden stupidity that implies.

At this point in my life, my firearms experience was a .22 rifle at a YMCA camp when I was ten-ish.

Given my lack of experience, of course I immediately grabbed it (I'm sure I had finger on trigger and didn't check if it was loaded) and started waving it around indiscriminantly asking how much he wanted for it.

Okay. Let's step through this:

- Eighteen year old with little firearms experience... Check!
- Guy selling items of questionable origins out of the trunk of his car in a dark alley... Check!
- Said alley located in the city of Chicago where handguns are banned... Check!
- Eighteen year old listed above waving a pistol around in plain view, ignoring all safe-handling practices, and yelling loudly to be heard over the other people squabbling about prices, "Hey! How much do you want for this GUN!!"... Check!

Although a recipe for disaster and a clear indication of my stupidity, my antics attracted no attention from passers-by (or they were too scared to say/do anything) and I managed to avoid shooting myself or anyone else. I don't even remember how much I ended up paying for that thing and a box of fifty rounds, but it went home with me that night.

I believe it was a Taurus, but I'm not sure. It was a Beretta 92 knock-off, though. It was also, by far the worst POS weapon that I've ever handled. The mag catch was dodgy and would drop the mag randomly. The slide would fail to fully cycle and return to battery at least once per magazine (then again, I could have been limp-wristing and I didn't know d!ck about cleaning/oiling/maintaining the weapon). At ten paces, hitting a pop can was a one out of three endeavor (again, this could be the operator not the weapon). AND the weapon would fire whether or not the safety was engaged.

Frankly, I'm impressed that the thing didn't kaBoom on me. It was later traded in for $40-ish towards a S&W 686 (legally purchased this time!). That 686 was traded in on the current XD45 Tacticool. The Tacticool has been joined by the M&P.45 that I just gave my wife for her birthday last week.

Kel-Tec seems to have issues with every new product they release. It takes them awhile to get the kinks worked out. That being said, they seem to be good about fixing what is broke, but begs the question on why they would essentially ship product while still practically in the beta stage.

As far as the PF-9 goes, any of the ones made in the last year should be good (mine has been at least). If it ain't, they'll make it right. As far as "disposable", it's less than half the cost of it's next-cheapest competitor (Kahr PM9) so its literally "bang for the buck".

Mine was a chrome Davis .380 I bought during the L.A. Rodney King riots. The grip was very short. If I wasn't careful how I positioned my thumb, the slide would scrape my thumb knuckle (2nd one down from the fingernail) when I fired. I have small hands and this pistol was too difficult to grasp properly without getting scraped. It did shoot pretty decent though. I ended up selling it.

Ouch! That's saying a lot. I was going to mentioned my friend's Jennings .380 that he got from a relative. Total crap. Since I've seen it, it's never fed, fired, and ejected more than 3 consecutive rounds without jamming. We tore it down to clean it. We're conviced it had never been cleaned. We scrubbed that thing till it shined. Still is a piece of crap. Has plastic mags that expand sideways when loaded past half capacity and jam.

Taurus PT1911. Broken ejector after about 50 rounds. They replaced the gun. Broken hammer after about 50 rounds. They replaced the hammer. When I got it back I immediately took it to the gun shop and traded it in on my XD45. Oh and their customer service sucked too.

i have 2, number one is a pistol, a sundance .25, wow POS i shot it a few times and at 7yards i could barly hit paper, but it gets worst, last time i took it to the range after about 45rd the slide brock in half, one half went flying tawards the target the other towards my face super POS.

The second gun wasnt so bad its a Stevens model 987 .22lr the problem with it was that evey 25 rounds or so id have a FTE, but then every 5 or so rounds it desided to go full auto on me spiting all of the ammo out of the tube mag, it was actualy cinda cool but everyone at the range was looking at me so i havent taken her out sence.

I've owned over fifty different handguns in my lifetime and hands down the worst I've ever owned was the Grendal 380.

The finish was awful, it jammed constantly, the trigger was about as cheap and bad as there could have been, it was very inaccurate, and the materials and workmanship looked like a child did it in his garage.

I contacted them to let them know it had serious issues and they were arrogant and unfriendly. Needless to say they went out of business. I have read ( I am not sure though) that the owners formed a new and improved company shortly thereafter- KelTec!!!
