id have to say, the M38-- yeah yeah yeah i know its cheap; but my shoulder was Pi***d after shooting. Even with a pad, so its in the back of the closet collecting dust.
i also wasnt that impressed with the sks, i kept bumping the darn read sight and nicking myself hard enough to bleed.

Worst POS gun owned
The pistol I gave up the easiest was a Taurus 92. Just to date myself, I got one when they first came out. I couldn't group a string of shots within 6" at 7 yards. It could have been the shooter.

Kel-tec PF-9. It had to go back to the factory shortly after I got it. It's a disposable gun. Built cheap. Their website even states it's good for about 6,000 rounds.

Mine was a Star Firestar in 9MM. Basically a micro-9 similiar to what SA recently released. It looked awesome, but was not reliable. FTFs and FTEs caused me to sell.....only gun I've ever sold.

A .22 derringer that I bought for $10. Sometimes the second barrel would fire, sometimes it didn't. I practiced throwing it in case it didn't.

Kessler 16ga Bolt action shotgun. Ugly, weighed a ton, broken extractor.
What more is there to say?

Ruger SP101
I try to buy only quality guns. I bought a Ruger SP101 38 spec 3" in 1990, before Internet gun reviews. I think it was a recently introduced model back then and it received glowing gun magazine reviews.
The double action trigger was gritty and too stiff. I reduced the main spring and then had ignition problems, so I had to go back to a stock replacement spring and stiff trigger. The hammer had sharp edges that poked me when carried and was snag prone. The non-adjustable sights were tiny and not regulated for either windage or elevation. The worst thing was that if you paused in the double action trigger pull, the trigger mechanism would sometimes lock up. I traded it in for a S&W M640 Hammerless Centennial that I still own to this day. I read gun magazines for the info but do not trust glowing gun reviews. The writers get specially prepared guns and their opinions are influenced by ad revenue. I don't know if they make recent SP101's any better, but I will never buy another one. |

There are a lot of beater guns in this thread... wow.
Mine is an M1 Garand. I picked it up off the internet when i was in college cheap. I brought it out to Nevada with me so i could shoot off the ammo with it and then trade it in. Before this it had set in my closet for about two years without being fired at all. Upon putting some rounds through it i realized why i didn't shoot it for so long. First, it doesn't like to activate the bolt once the clip is inserted. I have to giggle the operating rod handle a little to get it to load. Then once that is working the feed ramps are absolutely a piece of ****, the bullet will be sitting there pressed against the edge of the barrel. As if this isn't enough, once it gets hot from 3 or 4 clips the front sight become loose and likes to fall off. My plan is to put it up for sale on the gunbroker, where it came from, simply because i don't want to sell it to someone i know or someone on this forum. Because we can't do it often on this forum without a flaming: Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips Clips |
