mkIII 22/45 vs Sig Mosquito
okay, so..as some of you may know, I posted in January about the Sig Mosquito I got, that, jammed 2/3 rounds fired through the pistol...I returned it and traded it at full price for a MKIII 22/45. Took my 50 days to get that darn pistol because I missed the first background check period and had to do it alll over again and lost another 25 bucks! anyways, I finally got to try it out yesterday.
Review: Ruger 22/45 MKIII Bull Barrel, Blue: First impression, I like it. Reminds me of a luger with a 45 grip..of course. Front end kind of heavy due to Bull Barrel, but heavy in a good way. Pretty well balanced. I took it apart to clean and it was hard to put back on, so I FINALLY DECIDED to read the manuel..haha..well, it worked out fine and now, I can do it with my eyes closed. Magazine: Pretty good, has an odd feel since the bottom is so large and long, cant just jam it in if you want to speed load it. Factory gave me two mags. I was teaching my wife how to use it since this would be her pistol incase SHTF...well I showed her and said to her, "in case of any emergency situation where you have to use a the gun, you get hold the pistol like this, get the mag, put it in like this, remember, hiting the mag up doesnt hurt it, just do this......" and the mag fell apart. Seems like a little push up forward releases the bottom part of it and the spring will shoot out...not a good thing. So, i put it back together and tell her to put it in in a diffrent way.... haha...(I thought it was sturdy like my XD so I had confident in making sure the mag sticks in there..) Shooting: (review of the Mosguito) After cleaning the mosquito and cycling the pistol over 100 times, it still jammed 2/3 times (200+ rounds fired through it) so about 70 rounds shoot well, the rest were FTF, FTE Stove pipe issues... MkIII 22/45 I shot 550 rounds (entire box of federal mixed with rem gold and winchester X) with 0, thats right ZERO problems!! iM SO AMAZED AT THIS GUN, IM getting my father one. He'll love it! the accuracy on it is amazing too! with irons, and no break-in period, it was getting 2" groupings at 30 yards w/o bags...cant wait for it to break in!! Would I recommend it to someone else? Yes Im loving this purchase. Great gun Ruger! |

The 22/45 is a great little gun. The more I shoot mine, the more I like it. I just ordered a VQ sear and trigger for it today. Next comes the 1911 grip conversion!

it's hard to beat mark 22/45.
the mosquito's biggest problem is, it only want powerful ammo. if the power wasn't there, it won't chamber the next round. but over all, it still not as good as 22/45 IMHO. |

22/45's are great. I've had mine for ten years, probably put tens of thousands of rounds through it, and it functions flawlessly. Putting it together tho', I still need to have the manual in front of me every time. Never had a problem with the mags falling apart, I'm going to see if I can make mine do that.
