Glock owners: Negatives?

What are your perceived negatives of Glock pistols? Based on what I have read, my only concern MAY be grip angle. I have yet to hold one myself so I reserve that judgment.

I only have one gun (Springfield XD9 SC) which I love but I want a Glock. Why, I don't know really but I do. After completing the "three gun" (Pistol, Shotgun, Rifle), I may take the plunge and get either a G17 or G19 (haven't decided). Not for carry per se but if I were to one ONE Glock, which should it be?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

If you aren't going to carry it then I would get a 17. I have a 23 and love it. It has been 100% reliable. The only thing I can think of that I don't like is that the sites are plastic.

G17 is the original. I've CCed it many times before but it's more of a duty or comp gun. If you are only going to be doing range/three gun I would say get the 17 for the slightly increased sight radius and higher capacity.

No, I won't be competing in "three gun" or whatever it is. Was just providing useless information about my situation. That I wanted to get a rifle and shotgun, completing the "three gun" before I went and bought another pistol.

If your gonna have one Glock make it a Glock 19. Hell if your gonna have one gun, make it a Glock 19.

Glocks are great guns, a G19 would be a good choice.
As stated, my biggest problem is the grip angle.
The back strap of the grip dug into the palm of my hand.
I carried a G26 for 10 years, never a problem.
The stock sights stink, but that is easily fixed.
Just replace them with the sight of your choice.
I was happy with my Glock, until I held an XD.
I then realized how uncomfortable the Glock grip was.
And how great the XD grip is......
Sold the Glock 26 and bought my XD9sc, never looked back..

Negatives. Are we talking owners or guns here?

I got a good friend who is a Glock owner. (I don't hold it against him.......much). The negatives that I found with glocks were:

1: the grip angle.
2: the grip size. Much thicker than the XD. I have smaller hands and the larger grip size was not for me.

Other than that, I can't say much bad about them. I just like to stir to the pot, as it were.

I don't care for the grip angle of the larger models but the G26 is very nice. I got metal sights on it and its a good gun. Easy to take down and they are very reliable.

I own a couple of G17s. The first one I bought as soon as they hit the market in 1986. I have put countless thousands of rounds through it in the 22 years I have had it and it has never failed to feed, extract, or go bang when I pull the trigger.

It has eaten everything to include reloads with no malfunctions of any kind. When it comes to a handgun you might need to save your life, you can’t ask anymore than that.

My primary carry gun is a G17 and don’t find any issues with concealment. I own lots of handguns but I have a special place for the Glock, it simply works every time.

I owned a 2nd gen. Glock 17 for about 8 years. It never malfunctioned...ever. Why I sold it...I still don't know. Made up for it a few years later and bought a 2nd gen Glock 22 which I have had since 1995. Again...totally reliable and accurate. My only mods so far, have been a Ghost 3.5 pound trigger and night sights. I plan on getting a grip-mod done to get rid of the "hump" on the backstrap. This runs about 100 bucks around here.

Really, the only negative I can think of on the Glock is the hump on the backstrap. If you buy a used Glock at a decent price, the extra 100 bucks to mod the grip is not all that big of a deal. I paid 330 for my G22 and adding another 100 for a grip mod brings it to the price of many of its competitors.

I own and shoot many different kinds of pistols, but one stays in my truck and on the nightstand - the Glock 22. Why? Well, it has never failed...hard to argue with that. Besides, the G22 is the same size as the G17, but packs 40SW stopping power minus 2 rounds. 15rds of 40SW ought to get me through anything.

Reliability is the main thing I like about Glocks...they'll work if you take halfway care of them. Their mags are also very hardy - I left a few of my G17 mags loaded for almost a year and they still held up. I have left my G22 mags loaded for months on end and again...no problems.

Another plus for the G22/17 platform is that holster choices are great and used mags are cheap and everywhere. I recently bought 4 factory G22 15 rounders for 10 bucks apiece.

The 19 and 23 Glocks? They're supposedly good guns but I prefer the fullsize pistols. They're not hard at all to conceal. I used to hide my G17 in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard all the time.

If you like them...go for it. People love to poo poo the Glock, but if you want trouble free reliability...they're hard to beat.
