3 1/4" Magnum 1 1/2 oz slugs

That should get the job done.

But it really depends on your application.

Skeet, doves, tree rats - #6-#8 bird shot
Home invader - #4 to 00 Buckshot
Deers - 1-1 1/4 oz Rifled Slugs

How much did the Daly set you back? I shot a 1911 by them and it wasn't too bad.

I tried 3" 00 buck shells in my 18" Rem 870. Once. I will never hurt myself like that again.

I'm a wuss when it comes to recoil, I admit it. I stock a variety of ammo - low-recoil 00 buck is my main SD load. There really isn't much of a velocity difference between regular vs. LR so I don't know if the low-recoil stuff is way less effective, don't have any experience with using it on anything but paper targets. I do prefer shooting the low-recoil stuff, easier follow-up shots.

I also have some #4/#5 lead turkey shot on hand if I ever need to do some shooting where collateral damage might be an issue. I also have some slugs in case I ever need to stop a truck or blow through heavy cover. I don't forsee ever using anything but the 00 buck in a SD situation, but ya never know and it's fun to go out to the range and see what the different types of ammo can do.

Can it handle a 3 1/2" load. Most shot guns only shot 2 3/4, and sometimes 3"

Like our semi-autos, our pump action shotguns feature receivers machined from blocks of aluminum making them extremely lightweight, incredibly strong and capable of handling 2¾" and 3" shells.

Yeah, I don't think he's going rhino hunting, guys.
He said "HD Shotgun." Last I checked, rhinos don't invade your average American house.
