The buckmark is an awesome little gun; however, I wouldn't shoot shorts through it. I doubt they'd feed correctly from the magazine, if they could be loaded into the mag. I wouldn't even try loading them through the ejection port... I'd just stick w/ .22Lrs with the buckmark and keep the shorts for your Henry.
The buckmark won't let you down though, its a fun little plinker.

I had a random box of shorts in my shooting bag, so I tried them in both my Buckmark (before I sold it) and my MkII Target. They did not function in either gun.

I've yet to see .22 shorts cycle in an auto pistol or rifle. There may be firearms out there that do it but i've never seen one.

The 22 short is a fun lil round too.

.22 shorts do not have enough energy to make the action cycle on its on. they are best used in single shot, lever guns, and bolt guns. Oh, and revolvers...

I got a good deal on the MkII and I don't have a use for two .22 semi-auto pistols. I actually marginally preferred the Buckmark over the MkII, but my wife liked the MkII better.

I passed the Buckmark on to a buddy at work who was interested in shooting more, but can't afford much ammo, so it was a win-win. My wife shoots the MkII more than she did the Buckmark since she likes it more and I created another gun nut by giving him a gun he could afford to shoot at a very cheap price.

Pardini rapid fire pistol in .22 short. These are used in competitive pistol shooting. This style costs about $1,250 and go up from there.
Not used for shooting jackrabbits

You CAN run shorts in most 22 autopistols...however...it turns the gun into a single shot and you'll have to load and cycle each shot out. You might also get some strange jams...I'd stay away from doing it.
