Waterproof gun

OK, don't laugh! Here's my situation: I go to a lot of college pool parties where sometimes you just hang out around the pool, but sometimes you get thrown/pushed/willingly jump in.

I have a Ruger LCP on order (that I have been waiting IMPATIENTLY (lol!) for a month! my board shorts have a cargo pocket with velcro. Would it be acceptable to carry the LCP, full mag with one in the pipe, and go swimming?

Will chlorine/water hurt the gun? Can I get the barrel/slide finished with a more water-friendly coating?

Is ammo OK to get wet?

The issue here is that pool parties *can* get out of hand and it would be nice to have that added security. Obviously, if I did decide to go swimming, I cannot remove my gun and just leave it somewhere.

Any suggestions?

Usually, college pool parties also include copious amounts of alcohol...

My advice, leave your heater at home

What he said, but if you must bring it with you. DON'T DRINK and don't go swimming. Guns are metal and they rust. Mag springs and all the others were not made for this. Yes I know the SEALS swim with their stuff all the time, but that's a different deal. If you do get it wet take it apart dry it out and lube down everything. I have dropped several shotguns in the water and they all are fine, but you better beilve that every part was hand dried and oiled ASAP.
