thinking about a M&P, opinions?

i'm thinking about picking up a S&W M&P "service" length pistol in .357sig, i've wanted a .357sig caliber handgun for a pretty long time, i've already got a .380, 9mm, .40, and a .45acp, this wouldn't be a gun that i go plinking with or anything considering ammo is about $20/50rds, i've always liked the caliber and it's dammage factor, my local shop just happens to have some for $399 w/ 4 15rd mags, i'm thinking about stoping by this weekend....

what do you guys think?

Is the price and mag count before or after rebate? S&W is running a rebate right now on new M&Ps, you get $50 back and 2 extra mags via mail. If the price is pre-rebate, it's a really smokin' deal ($349 for the gun and 6 mags).

I dont know about the SC but another option to get the 357sig is just buy a new barrel for your 40. I have been thinking about picking one up because for $125 you have a new caliber, and the mags are the same too.

Even at $400, it's still a great deal. M&Ps are good shooters and should serve you well. I'm about to pick up a full-size 9.

The Steyr MA-1 is available in 357SIG and CDNN sells them for around 339 bucks. Have you tried this pistol yet? It might surprise you. For the money, the MA-1 is a very good deal.

I think M&P's are a great gun, that for some reason, I can't shoot worth a crap. also, my thumb seems to always hit the mag release. no one else seems to have this problem, it's just me.

oh well, back to the Glocks.

I have a 9 compact and a 45. I love the ergonomics of the pistols, feel perfect in the hand and point natural... only thing I dislike is the triggers--they feel almost creepy. I really like my glock triggers and the xd trigger. That is my only complaint. I have a crimson trace on my 45 and love how it replaces the backstrap. Buds had the full size 9mm mp for cheap at the last show I was at.
