Suppressing an XD9-SC

I am planning on either getting a suppressed .22:
Walther P22 Suppressor Package

or adding a threaded barrel to my XD9-SC.

I can get the barrel here for $225 w/ 1/2" extension and threads:
https://www.efkfiredragon.com/prodde...?prod=XDSUB9SB

The AAC Evolution 9mm Suppressor: $800
AAC Evolution 9MM Suppressor

or the AAC Scorpion Suppressor: $550
AAC Scorpion 9MM Suppressor

So, here is the cost breakdown:

Walther 22 w/Suppressor: $500
NFA Tax: $200
TOTAL: $700

...or...

Subcompact barrel: $225
Suppressor: $800 or $550
NFA Tax: $200
TOTAL: $1225 or $975

I look at it both ways: If I get the .22 I actually get a new gun, which is always a good thing. But if I get my XD suppressed, I have a gun that would be great for home defense. Also, getting the shorter suppressor would help with the size of the subcompact, and it costs less.

What do you guys think?

A friend of mine has the 22 setup and it is sweet.he went with the 22 because he can use the supressor on other rifles and he has a dedicated 22 upper on his AR.

Using anything with a suppressor for home defense is a categorically bad idea.

i would say the p22. its cheap to shoot and the suppresor will last longer also. they will eventually wear out from the muzzle blast and since a 22lr is so light and considering the 9mm one is used on a 3 inch barrel the. also 22lr out of a handgun us usually allready subsonic and my p22 will shoot the remington bulk pack with no problems and also the 22 will be quiter then a 9mm suppressed

if you have a 223 also you can get a 22lr &223 suppressor for about $450 from HTGHTG Universal .22 & .223 Silencer

My third option which I have come across recently is getting a used Beretta 92FS and adding an AAC M9-SD. The reason: The Beretta can be threaded with the existing barrel. The M9-SD can, wet, has 40db reduction! Due to the design of the 92FS barrel, it can be suppressed quite easily and made VERY quiet. I have heard reports that it can be just as quiet as the P22 suppressed.

This would be in about the same price range.
92FS: $350
M9-SD: $700
Tax: $200
TOTAL: $1250

Kinda steep, but I also get a 92FS out of it
I actually think I prefer the 92FS over the newer 90-TWO. Anyone else agree? Or would the 90-TWO be better?

Can I just say 1 more thing: **** THE NFA TAX! I agree with the paperwork and background checks, even if they want to meet me in person and interview me or something, but not a stupid $200 tax. That "document fee" is way too high.

I would go the .22 route simple because it is cheaper to shoot=more fun. and it's versatile for rifles. But it would be damn cool to have a silenced 9mm

Wanna expand on this, please ??

Example:
A PLR-16 is chambered in 223 and would make a very effective HD firearm equipped with a light/laser combo. But with such a short barrel, they are really loud to the point of causing instant permanent damage if you shoot it without hearing protection. I actually thought of getting one for HD if not for the noise factor.

So why would a suppressor be a bad thing ??
I'm not being confrontational, I'm just curious why you would say this.
