Sig P6 (225) PICS!

Finally got some pics of my newly acquired Sig Sauer P6

I bought it from CDNN and it arrived in 3 days (used a Visa). I purchased the "lower end" P6 as they had 2 different conditions to choose from that were $40 difference. My plan was to buy the cheaper model (expecting it to be in somewhat poor shape) and refinish it with bake-on Moly Resin. I paid $311 out the door.

To my surprise the pistol arrived in about 97% condition. No "smilie"'s on the barrel, springs were tight as hell. SO I did a complete tear down into all 90 some pieces and cleaned every inch.
It truly looks like only a box of ammo was fired down it and it was probably never even holstered!

I polished the feed ramp, bought a lighter hammer spring (#16), and let some Kroil Penetrating Oil do it's thing for a few days on all moving parts (you can see excess oil in the pics).
Trigger pull was still really heavy after the lighter spring was installed. So I put a light coat of the Kroil on the hammer spring and left the hammer cocked for a few days. It's easily lightened up another 3-4 pounds.

Basically I couldn't be happier. I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of a handgun this "old" It isn't my first Sig, but I'd definitely buy 2 or 3 more of these at this price. A perfect "beater" for each vehicle. Although this condition is far superior to a "beater":

Here is the ONLY cosmetic issue with this pistol, definitely not worth another $40 in my opinion:

I'm gonna place an order for a few accessories: a spare magazine, new magazine springs, a FO front sight, and probably a Hogue or Pachmayr slip on grip sleeve. If i can find a "short trigger" i'll be extremely happy. It's my new favorite handgun, cheap with high quality!

Send a message via AIM to jtkratzer
Looks like it's in great shape.

Interesting...I saw an ad at my gun club with someone selling a 9mm P6 for 300 out the door with 2 mags, case, drop let holster, and something else...I was just going to start looking for what prices are like on them.

AIM has them for $259, but they charge quite a bit for shipping. CDNN ships for only $9.99

Dan's is the same way, a cheap pistol ($259), but shipping is $35

If I remember correctly, my two from AIM were $540 total to my door....so $10 each for shipping. I'll check on it.

Both of mine show wear but function perfectly. I would spend the $40 extra to be as clean as your's appears to be.

Here's one of them:

Did just leaving the hammer spring under tension lighten it up? Would the same thing happen for the main spring?

My shipping was AIM was around $12 I think.

Leaving a spring under tension will NOT reduce its weight. Springs wear out from being cycled (ie, compressed and released), not from simply remaining under static compression.

Thats a looking gun. I have been beating around the idea of picking one up to refinish myself, but if I got one like that I wouldn't dare.

That's not true with new springs tht have never been under tension. If you put a new spring under tension for a given period of time, then remove it and measure it, the new spring will be shorter and lighter. The Kroil oil had a lot to do with lightening up the action as well, (that's why I mentioned it)

Of course we can argue back and forth between facts and internet wives tales all day long. internet facts and actual science are very different thing, I don't know why forum surfers believe everything that's posted when science has the true answer. However, arguing over this is not something i'm gonna do from this point as it's not really relavent to this thread. I started this thread to post pics of a good Sig P6 deal.

HumbleGuh, the Hammer Spring and Main Spring are the same thing on a Sig.

Wow, over-react much?
