Taurus PT-145 range report

Well I finally got to go to the indoor range and shoot my new handgun. My new gun is a Taurus PT-145 Pro Millenium (3", 10+1, .45). I shot 150 rounds through it today. I used a couple of different rounds to see what it could take, I tried the cheapest stuff out there and it ran like a champ. I am VERY pleased with this little hand cannon. It is a very small gun, perfect for when I get my CCW license. It has a 3" barrel andl holds 10+1 .45acp and only cost $319 new. It took a mag or 2 to get used to the recoil and sights. Some complain about the long trigger but I like it. Now I just have to find a good IWB holster, buy 2 more mags or so and buy some GOOD defense rounds for it. Oh yea and ALOT more range time... Anyone looking for a small .45 semi auto check this bad boy out!

Jeremy

I've got a holster for ya if you're still looking.. Comp-tac IWB.. drop me a PM.

I love mine too, so does the girlfriend. She claims it when we get out to shoot. But it is my CCW, hardly notice it on my hip any more. Get mags.. lots and lots of mags and slap a XML mini light on it.

Also a good place for info on it is taurusarmed.net

Does anyone have that pic of the target that tells you why you are shooting low/high/left/right... It seems like I shot a little low and to the right.

Is speer the only company that sells the short barreled ammo?

I like Taurus. I like Heine sights.

The PT-145 is a great looking and feeling gun. I looked at one a while ago, and decided on the XD 9 subcompact instead. But having .45 - 10 shot capability is something to consider if it's in a reliable pistol. Thanks for the range report!

Here's a snippet of a post in the Taurus site mentioned

"i will shoot just about any brand of practice ammo, what ever is available, reliable, and least expensive. right now Magtech 230gr. is my favorite, comes out to $12.97/box of 50.

for defense ammo i currently have Federal Premium L.E. 230gr. HST, i get it for $28.00/box of 50.

the gun has operated flawlessly. it has quickly become my favorite, even more so than my beloved XD.
"

All those guys say it's flawless with any type of ammo. I am thinking...should I reconsider? I liked it the first time I saw it....oh, maybe an Easter present to myself!

I have a PT-145... Love it. It's also my CCW... I use a Crossbreed Supertuck. I don't even feel it on me.
Here is a site to help with your shot taking on paper. Encyclopedia of Bullseye Pistol
Good luck.

Nice gun, I've got the Pt 111 mil pro (9mm) and it's a great gun. I carry it every day I work. Super reliable 13 rounds in a nice and small package.

I'm glad your guy's pt145's turned out ok I wasnt so fortunate maybey they've fixed the accuracy problems since they first came out who knows but I couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with the one I had and I've never experienced those accuracy problems with any other handgun I've owned. But the important thing is for those who have one is that they work for you. I do concede they are nice looking pistols and if mine shot more accurately I would have never gotten rid of it.

Congradulations! I have one as well. I have also heard several complaints about the trigger but everyone seems to get used to it pretty quickly. It is small, holds quite a few and conceals really well. You'll be very pleased.
