Any info on Taurus 24/7 Pro?

I've been looking to get a 9mm for cheap shooting (.45 acp is just too damned expensive to shoot all the time) and came across the Taurus 24/7 Pro at the local Tri State. I'm a little hesitant to buy a Taurus semi-auto pistol as I've been told they make some substandard stuff, or at least used to. The gun felt great in my hand and I like the fact that it's SA/DA and has an external safety, AND only costs $350 or so. But I just can't get past the Taurus name. I've read they are the fastest growing firearms manufacturer but that doesn't really mean much I don't think. I don't know, maybe I should just go with a Smith and Wesson M&P, which felt great also. Or better yet, another XD .

the 24/7 fits the hand well, but the trigger pull is worth less than a steaming pile of dog ****. It has a ton of creep with like 3 or 4 stages to it.
Other than that it's a decent piece, but I couldn't drop a few hundred bucks on a ****ty trigger that cannot be improved upon.

Right now CDNN has a Sig Sauer 225 for only $299, a Charles Daly ZDA for only $289, Springfield XD for $399, a SW99 for $349. Any of those would be a better choice IMO for that price.

I had a bad experience with one, repeated light primer strikes, and FTF's. Doesn't mean you will, but MANY other people have reported similar issues with Taurus 24/7's, and then to add insult to injury, their customer service is also rude, ineffective, and slow. On top of that, the new M&P's are having WAY too many reliability issues being reported.

I'd stick with an XD, or try a different (and proven) brand like a Sig.

i just bought one,,like 3 hours ago. Its true, the trigger is a loooooooooong one. Its like you pull it, and pull it, then pull it some more and finally it will fire. I haven't shot it yet, plan on going tomorrow. I couldnt turn it down due to academy having it on sale for 325 and it holds 17 rounds.

I had one in .45, but sold it to buy my XD. The trigger is long and the only consistent problems I ever had with the pistol is it did not like hand loads, and I fire a lot of those. I had a magazine go bad on me after about 500 rounds, called Taurus they told me to mail it to them and two weeks later I received a new mag in the mail. No problems with their customer service for me to report on.

As far as holsters go I had a Safariland and Uncle Mikes that were designed for the Sig 226 and they worked just fine.

The Pro and the regular 24/7 are identical in dimensions, the Pro model has the SA/DA trigger while the original 24/7 was DAO.

I was just pulling the trigger on my buddys PT138 last night.... UUGGGHHH!!!! nasty nasty nasty.... the least they could have done is lighten the pull since there's all that take up to deal with.... maybe they've improved it since they made his though.... I hope so!
